What do you know about CAI dyno's

I have been trying to do some research on which CAI to get for my 04 TL and I found these three Dyno results:

http://www.injen.com/webpages/testin...%2004%20TL.GIF
http://www.kandn.com/dynocharts/69-0021.jpg
http://www.aempower.com/pdf/dyno/21-...Acura%20TL.pdf

Injen says it will up the HP from 202.3 to 213.7 (additional 11.4 HP)
K&N says it will go from 216.29 to 223.09 (adding 6.8 HP)
AEM says it will go from 229.6 to 245.6 (adding 16 HP)

The problem I have is that they all have different max outputs before the CAI. The designs are all very similar and shouldn’t be that drastic..

Should I go with the AEM because of the 16 HP improvements or is there something in the dyno results that I am missing?

Any help would be appreciated...

Thanks.

IMO, in order to get an accurate Dyno, somone from the board has to do a baseline dyno before installing the CAI and then after. I don't think I've seen that before. However, I have seen before and afters w/ CAI and exhaust and the gains are very strong.

Here's a link to my Injen dyno: https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=86423

I think it's realistic to expect 8-10 hp at the top end with no gain below 4000rpm. That's not enough to really 'feel', but the added noise and some psychological trickery may convince you otherwise. That goes for all of the products. They are all basically the same design and should be expected to produce similar results, unless you believe in magic coatings.

I don't have a TL, but I've been researching 3G TL dynos. AEM's is the best dyno as far as I can tell, the numbers they list are the peak #'s.

K&N's dyno does not show peak numbers, they show the gains at one point 6.8HP at 5500, but if you look at the dyno the curve keeps going till about 6500rpm. I looks like K&N's peaks at 225hp before, and 240hp after, very close to AEM's numbers.

And injen's dyno is just crap, I read another thread that said injen's dyno was done wrong. not surprisingly their TSX CAI dyno is also correct (they somehow went past the reve limiter on it), so disregard that one totally.

I'm not a fan of the aftermarket CAI crud. It's really pricey. One can modify the OEM setup slightly so that it won't suck any air from the engine compartment. The car already has a "CAI" setup so why F around with it.

To get rid of the resonator and run a bigger filter.

simply modify the oem setup, or removing the resontator never gives the same gains as a CAI. Why do you call it crud, for the price ~$200-$250 it gives excellent gains.
