holding gears longer is really for when you are racing until the end of 3rd gear. In D, the car will shift to 4th at like ~95mph, and the race will be over since 4th gear is too tall to race. In manual mode, you can hold 3rd until 109mph.

Please. Show a little respect to the OP. This thread isn't about how fast your car is. If you want to start one, that's great, but let's try to stay on topic here.

last time i checked, when i have my foot planted, it shifts at redline in D, which was above 100mph.

i've never had a problem letting the ECU do its thing in Drive.

as stated previously, i only use manumatic to start off/hold in a certain gear if racing, or if i'm uphill/downhill.

Take your back seat out and maybe your passenger seat too, then run with a 1/4 tank or less of fuel.

What kind of race are you doing? from a dig or rolling? I guess I wouldn't worry to much, and just run it. If you loose oh well, the TL's interiors much better than the G35. It should be a close race, I say winner buys the other one a cold beverage of choice!

The car has already at a minimum lost 78lbs. I'm 155 right now myself. He's 160 with no weight reduction of any kind in his ride

It would be from a 45mph roll so I don't chew thru my tires from wheel spin.

I would be more worried about wheel-hop vs shredding tires.

Lmao you're not going to chew your tires from 225whp.

Unless you're running Chinese rubber

For real - I had an 04 G35 and that was the biggest POS ever. Hated that car. I liked my 89 Mustang better (except for the 88hp 4 cyl.)

No, it ran fine, it was the interior mostly. The seats are terrible for long trips. Super uncomfortable. Since 04 was still the first gen - the center stack was obviously simply brought over from the Skyline in Japan. Nothing was proper for a LHD car. It was silly stuff, but annoying. For instance, the volume controls were on the right of the center stack, so you had to reach further than if they were on the left. Everything was like that - the a/c controls, the volume, hell - even the CD player eject button was on the opposite side from the norm.

Don't even get me started on the NAV. People complain about the TLs NAV - remember, this was 2004 - it was at LEAST a touch screen. The G35 had the WORST nav I have ever seen. I'd retrofit an Atari 2600 in and it would be an improvement.

Wow that's pretty bad. My interior could use some work. Driver and passenger seats have some Freddy Kruger looking slice marks in them. I mean it's not terrible but I could use some seat covers.

So does this mean that the OP's TL will beat a 04 G35 (for interior styling) once the seat rips are fixed?

Haha - if you add comfort to that mix, a set of TL seats that have NO leather left beats brand new G35 seats!

The guy who owns the G35 is the most epic shit talker in the world. I said that I wanted to race him AS-IS today with how his car is and now he won't race me because my car is modified. He's full of shit and is afraid to take that loss. He walked around the job today asking what people prefer, Acura or Infiniti and most said Infiniti like their opinions have ANY bearing on how the outcome of the race would be. He looks for validation from people who know little to nothing about the topic he calls them to speak on so be can save himself from looking like a total fucking idiot. I hope on everything that is that I beat him if he ever decides to race me. I would love to embarrass his sorry ass.

Dang, that means you gotta find a buddy who looks like Walker and look over ask how much a retail G35 is....then you turn your head to your buddy and say...."SMOK'EM!"

I don't even think I could get any satisfaction from beating this guy. He wouldn't take the loss like a man. He'd make every excuse in the book about why he lost. He's incredibly smooth with manipulating situations to give him the upper hand. All he talks about is how he has sex with so many women and that's it. I'm all for getting some ass but this is literally all he talks about and he's easily threatened when he sees someone is doing better than him in life. If I'm gonna beat him, I want it to be an outright slaughter that totally owns his insecure ass.

Did I read right that you're getting your TL tuned soon?

I'm in serious debate if it's worth getting it tuned when supposedly the AEM FIC doesn't allow advancing of timing.

Lol dude, the J series motor is an expensive motor to modify in terms of $$/hp compared to other Honda motors. German motors there is much more aftermarket support from a lot of big name brands.

If you want to mod the TL for power, be prepared to throw down some dough and a lot of customization.

I would just get a faster car lol.

I debated a 08 IS-F Blue with 130k miles versus my current 07 TL-S KBP with 60k miles (im at 110k now though), and almost the same price, I went with the TL.

Getting a faster car is 100% not in the picture for me. So I have to make due with what I have.

What do you need? My Accord.

Wasn't by more than a couple car lengths but he was definitely surprised.
