Weight Reduction? The emaciated TL.
Introducing the Time Attack TL. First things first, gut the bitch. 
Current Specs:
Luxury reduction: 50%
Performance increase: 128%
Approximate weight reduction: 250lbs
Front/Rear weight ratio: maybe 62/38
Miles on Motor: 102,000
Miles on 5AT: 102,000

Also mounted this 15lb Braille battery in the trunk. The other battery under the blower is still there powering the TL and will come out when the time comes to install the new components.

damn acuratein your so conservative! Im keepin mine luxury cuz when that gutted out Civic hatch with a b series sees my tailights, ill be talkin on bluetooth, my ass will be nice and warm, and i cant here a single bump in the road 
...o and i love rubbin it in to my friends when they are miserable haha...but i love your ideas..just not my taste..ya know?

How have you only lost 250lbs? You reduced weight with the single outlet exhaust, no rear seat or carpeting, all the truck lining has been removed, the rear speakers seem to be removed, two racing seats, I would think you should be a lot lighter.
Would you be interested in the CF roof by anychance?

I'm starting to wonder about you, Eric. But since you're on a mission here, I'm assuming you've removed all of the stuff Innaccurate has...and put the CF hood back on...it may not look pretty, but it's a few more pounds (in the front, which you need with that weight ratio you have now).

I was thinking and chill dog is right. If you weight ratio was closer to 50-50 the car would handle like a charm. I saw either replace the OEM hood with a custom vented CF hood so not only will it be less wieght, but alot cooler in the engine bay, haha and your SC needs that

I called Wolfden Products of Ohio, they're pricing is as such. Understand these are just estimates. Contact number: 614-873-0386
$3500 for the mold alone
then $1750 for each carbon fiber product
They did however say that if you were to do multiple carbon fiber body parts it would be cheaper.
If four of us wanted to buy the CF roof it would be 3500+(1750x4)= 9500 then divide that by four which would be $2325 for each CF roof without installation. Not too bad, if we can get more people we can lower the cost of the mold because we would be splitting the cost among more people.

In a roll over situation carbon fiber may not hold up as strong as the stock roof, however in a rollover situation the probably of getting injured is just as likely with the convential roof versus the carbon fiber.
The reason why carbon fiber use isn't abundant is because of its high cost.
Let me inform you that carbon fiber is used in many street legal cars, mostly high end vehicles such as Ferraris.
Current cars with CF body components:
M6 CF roof
C6 corvette, full body
F430, full body
GT40, full body
etc.

And addressing your other issues of weight savings, our primary goal, well at least my primary goal with the Carbon Fiber roof, is she some weight on a very heavy roof, while maintaining a good amount of structural integrity. The Sun roof and its components, primarily the motor will be removed and the estimated weight loss is roughly 60 or more lbs.
However a roll cage will weighs a lot, it is high grade steel and very very very strong, it weighs roughly 200lbs, all dependent on how the cage is structured.

I just can't imagine that cutting up a monobody chassis and replacing it with CF can be as strong as the original structure. How would the CF be adhered to the existing steel that is as strong as a steel to steel weld? That is the part I don't understand.
I understand CF being used in the autos you mentioned, but they are designed with the use of CF in mind. Not an afterthought.

I have always liked ur car before stripping it but it boggles my mind why anyone wouldnt want to spend $35K on a luxury car and then take the insides out to gain power? 
All the money/time uve spent on this car, u coulda just bought a more expensive just as luxurious faster car?? like a 335i or S4. S4 might not beat u now but it would be close and the 335i would win.
unless u really like the TL's body style.
Still, to rip a TL apart like that, it looks like a racetrack tuned civic as far as the insides concerned
I commend you on ur efforts and individuality, just doesnt make much sense to me is all

Accuratien, get rid of the sound deading and you will save another 50lbs at least. Also some light weight black felt would make the interior more "presentable". Nice job by the way, need to see that thing in person some day

If I could eventually consider my TL a real project car where I can do anything I want to it and not have to rely on it as a daily driver, then I would rip and tear at it too.
Most of us have TL's that are still babies so this does seem very extreme.
But to each his own. My wife and her friends see my TL on jack stands all the time and don't understand why I am wrenching on a 2yr old car. They stand in disbelief that I would change out my exhaust for looks and sound!

IMO he doing a great thing here. Most of us are afraid to do half of what he did. His TL is HOT, hopefully some day his car will get sponsored by a big company. Next thing you know more companies take interest as well, then boom!!! Hundreds of bolt-ons appear for the TL aftermarket... this is how I see it.

Don't go for a 6MT swap, build up your 5AT instead, you'll be faster than any Supercharged MT.
