Tl-s Performance mods for 1k-2k

Hi guys. I'm a noob to mods. i have a 2007 TL type s. I'm looking to add more power to my car. i want to spend around 1k, 2k max.

what are some easy things to add more power? i was thinking about adding some kind of cold air intake and an exhaust and maybe some others things that can boost my hp.

around how much hp can i expect to add with these mods? also are these mods easy for me to put in myself or do i need to take it to a shop?

any help will be greatly appreciated

You pretty much have it right there. A CAI and exhaust will run you over $1k. You can get a j-pipe to round out the breathing part of the car. That'll run you ~$400. You can try and get a crank pulley, ~$200. You can also get a throttle body spacer. That'll take you right up to your $2K limit.

Hope this helps.

Oh also my car is a automatic... i would have gotten a standard but the traffic in my area sucks. i had a CBR f4i for when i needed speed but since some dumb bitch in an SUV decided it would be a good idea to almost kill me, my bike is totaled and my wife wont let me get another bike. so im tryin to add speed to my car.

You can do it all yourself, but taking it to the shop is easier, since they have a lift. It's worth it, because it's so much faster. As for the crank pulley, you'll almost definitely need to get that done somewhere else, because the torque spec on that thing is like 186 lb/ft.

As far as HP #'s, I'd say CAI + j-pipe + exhaust = ~20whp.

Alright so this is what ive come up with.

XLR8 Resonated TL Type S Exhaust
XLR8 J-Pipe
Fujita 5 Cold Air Intake
P2R Throttle Body Spacer
Unorthodox Racing Pulleys - Crank Pulley

total comes to around 1800. if i take it to a shop and have them do it for me how much do you think that will run me?

also i want to lower it 1" and add new rims. should i get lowering springs? or should i get coil over?... its only an inch so i was thinking the springs would be fine....

i guess it all depends on "wear and tear" and if there's anything to gain from it.

i'm looking for quad muffs and haven't pulled the trigger to go full custom or wait for ATLP. I much rather keep my stage 3, custom fab tips to stock quad exhaust and call it a day.

For the NoVA guys here... we should all get together and go to the Quantico Auto Hobby shop for our next mods. It's a really nice, clean shop with every tool you could ever need... not to mention very cheap. I think it's like $5-10 an hour to rent a bay with a full lift.
