What I'm gonna be doing is cut off the 2.5" collector on my V3 RV6 J-pipe and weld on either a 3" collector or X-pipe for a true dual set-up...

I think cutting and welding a 3" collector on the J-pipe will be best for your future plans...and since your car is just a full-time racecar I say choice 1...because racecar...

Yeah I agree on the 3" collector, although maybe sonnick will chime in and let us know what he thinks about it. He's the one that brought my attention to the venturi idea.

P&P isn't that bad. Just time consuming. It's all about looking at the path of the air and removing obstructions without reducing velocity. I've had much success with my home P&P jobs.

Dingy tiny dong Dave is just compensating for something with his big toolbox. and you're right, building a track car from scratch with mostly my own fab'd parts is certainly what oil changers do.

Mods, please delete his crap from my thread if you'd be so kind.

Back to something worth while

As I posted earlier, I'm really interested in modifying the rear bumper and diffuser to allow more air/pressure to escape the rear wheel wells. Here are some examples of what I mean...

Size: 24.6 KB

Name: wheel-tunnel.jpg
Views: 78
Size: 23.4 KB

The reason for wanting to do this is pretty clear by the indications on the bumper and diffuser as seen here

I threw some tape up generally where I would be cutting to give you guys a visual of what I'm thinking but I've still got a lot of planning to do.

Dave - I'm done. Stay out of my thread please and I'll stay out of your non sense. You bring nothing to it but a +1 on the view counter. I absolutely believe this forum would be better without you.

I would try to stay in the factory lines of the bumper cover and have it exit out of the stock exhaust cutouts possibly trimming them a little larger. May look strange to hack off the side of the bumper cover.

In progress project #2

With all the front end changes I have planned for this winter, I thought I might as well address the stock grill as well. Nothing is complete yet and it will depend on a few things to see what the final out come of the grill will be. But here's a pic as it sits now...

Name: 1028121053.jpg
Views: 78
Size: 62.4 KB

Next up is the stock hood latch and release lever. I don't like how much of the grill opening is taken up by the latch when it could be feeding more air to the radiator. I also don't like that the release lever in the driver foot well is so easy to accidently pull/move without the interior piece there anymore. I have never had it open up while moving but I would always just use my foot to pull the lever and pop the hood when arriving back in the paddock. So I'm just ditching the whole setup for an aerocatch set of hood pins. Here's the difference already with the latch out of the way...

Before:

Size: 71.4 KB

After:

Size: 76.2 KB

Useless metal removed:
Name: 1028121354.jpg
Views: 69
Size: 99.5 KB

stay tuned for more details

Looks good. Are you gonna use mesh? I would paint the metal behind it black also.

Have you come up with a solution for the front windows in the rain?

I was looking at buying some aluminum bolts, washers, and nuts to reduce some weight but that gets expensive.

I was also thinking about a spot weld drill to remove the extra sheet metal and brackets but don't think I will go that far.

Yeah some mesh and paint is in order up there. and maybe an oil cooler too :minis:

Aluminum hardware is lighter but I wouldn't trust the strength as much. I started to drill some spot welds where the rear seat was but its a ton of work

Awesome

Have you ever gotten a chance to go to a wind tunnel or something and put some numbers behind your aero mods?

Thanks man, I've got plenty to do on mine this winter but you never know! lol

No rubbing, but lots of rubber and whatnot being thrown up which can give you some idea of the amount of air travel that happens here.

Haha wind tunnel time? psh I wish. I did do track session without the aero and you can read what an experience that was here:

http://elegantaggressor.blogspot.com...y-results.html

needless to say the aero isn't going to be decreased anytime soon haha

Yea! I ordered the Skunk2 camber control arms from Heeltoe last month and I was hoping they'd be in by now, but they're still on backorder...

And thinking about finally pulling the trigger on the ZDX TB/TL SH-AWD manifold.

Possibly the Braille B2015 15lb. battery...

And lastly, maybe a custom exhaust

Track weekend is in early December, I'll keep ya posted!
