Cool Timing belt service and UR pulley

okay I have 2 random questions about 105k service.....I knw ive been tld that its either 105k miles or 7yrs which ever comes 1st.... my tl is an 08 and has 36k miles so right now I have maybe a year left to get my timing belt service, so my question is can I change it out before hand or does it really matter? 2nd question is in reference to the ur pulley, what belt is recommended and where can I purchase it from?

i really doubt your car's timing belt needs to be changed given the mileage, i changed my timing belt on my 07 tl-s at about 120k miles and it was still in good condition, nowhere near breaking.

It's neither. The answer is in your owner's manual...

I got 120k on original timing belt on my 05 TL. You have barely any miles, I think it will be fine up until you reach 105k miles

i have an 05 with 57k miles....original owner, my car will turn 8 in june. i haven't changed my TB yet. there are others who have waited to 8 yrs and some even longer (10 yrs).

OM states it's MID4 with NO time limit given for the 3G TL. MID4 can flash a few thousand miles before 105k or a few thousand miles after 105k. the car certainly will not know how old it is. you have an 08...my math for the "7 yr number" places you at 2015 at the earliest (if you want to go by time). it's not like you reach the 7 yr mark and the engine blows up (well maybe depending how you drive)

dealer is trying to make money based on THEIR recommendations not necessarily the manufacturer's.

i wouldn't stress over your TB. just install the pulley and enjoy the car.

like everyone said, you're TB is fine and just install the UR pulley

my '04 TL is 8.5 years old and 90K miles on it, i just did TB service and the old TB was still in good condition, probably could have waited till 105k
