Tanabe Medalion Exhaust

I am about to get it, but I want to hear some opinions about this exhaust. I like the look, and I hope it sounds good out of the box, with out any other modifications to the exhaust system (like cat deletes). I want a low growling sound like from a G35 or FX45, without any rasp. Anyone have experience with this exhaust?

It's throaty at WOT and a little louder than the stock setup. It's not aggressive or loud. It's guaranteed under 93 db too. It's not raspy either. Of course if you eliminate all your cats it might make it raspy.

I have one, actually, I bought mine form that gentleman above (thanks Josh), it was even one of the first ones out

I ran it initially with an RV6 test pipe. Here's a link to some videos:

https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...ghlight=tanabe

I then upgraded to an RV-6 J-pipe and an ATLP race pipe.

I don't have video clips of that...maybe there's a weekend project

All in all, it sounds great when you get on it, but it's not too loud when cruising around. I heard some other of the ATLP and XLR8 res and non-res exhuasts, and they are way louder than the Tanabe. This is very similar to the Comptech, only with larger tips, which I think fill out the openings in the bumper really well.

I think however that it looks much better with an A-Spec rear lip, becasue the exhaust tips are longer than stock. Take a look at my car domain (link to it in my profile, click the '08 PMM...) and you can see the comparrison.

Also, search, myself and few others have written quite a bit about this.

Wow I didn't realize the evo II was that loud. That's the most rasp I've heard from an evo II setup too (and I've seen a lot of youtube videos)

It has PCD's, a J-Pipe and a test pipe too, plus I don't recall if everything was quite broken in yet. Steve, if you wanna butt in, didn't you also replace sometihng else because it was damaged and in turn you had less rasp?

Yea I guess catless would make it sound pretty raspy.

What's WOT?

And is this exhaust everything from the cat and back?

Also, is it a DIY, or do you need to have pro's install this?

I'm kinda new at this, also considering this exhaust. I can do lots of work on my own, hoping this is a plug & play...DIY kind of job.

The Tanabe Exhuast is a cat back system. It is also a very easy install. Take out the old, install the new. The only problem you may run into is rusted bolts holding the exhaust onto your 3rd cat. Other than that, it is a very easy install.

Do you know if that exhaust will fit 07~08 Type-S?

It will, but the bumper cut out is nice and wide for quad tips, and this exhaust was designed to fit in the narrower opening of the base bumper, so it will look a little small more likely than not.
