A/T to M/T
Searched and Searched for this but nothing came up...
I have an extended warranty that covers my tranny and if it were to drop one of these days, has 120k on it, would it be less for the shop replacing the tranny to just get the 6mt then a new 5at? i know theres some linkage that would have to be put in for the clutch but i feel driving with a mt is so much more controlling then having to do nothing while driving..
thanks

If your auto fails, the warranty won't cover a 6mt swap. You would have to cover the bill yourself. TL manual trannys are $1-1.5K used, maybe more. I've heard of 6mt swaps + labor being completed for $4-5K...good luck.
no doubt i tryed to trade in but they always went way low on trade in value and and trade in difference, even on non acura's. But i was gonna say 4-5 sounds a little to much for just a tranny swap in this situation.

Yeah you are better off trading or selling. Converting auto to manual you will need the harnesses, swap computers, linkage, clutch assembly, maybe new motor mounts and there is more just cant remember.
i bought a used motor and a 6spd transmission for 1500. 1500 for the engine/transmission/clutch and flywheel/ecu/wiring harness/pedals/ and the slave cylinder. i think its worth doing the swap if you can find a good deal on the transmissions
im still keeping my original motor just incase if something goes wrong. its really not that hard. why trade in your car for something else when all youre looking to do is a 6spd swap. i originally had 100k+ miles on my current engine and the engine that i bought has close to 50k miles. i just picked up the engine on saturday. we're going to use the other spare motor to design a good twin turbo kit for it.

whoa! $1500 for the engine/transmission/clutch and flywheel/ecu/wiring harness/pedals/ and the slave cylinder? that is so cheap. Good luck with the swap and I look forward to see your thread about the swap.
