you made this or comptech? is it just a straight pipe to a cone filter rather than into the box?

btw - hope you have before and after dyno

I see a bracket that either has no use or was put on the wrong angle, you did that on purpose...nice BTW

This modification is extremely custom....

-The black rubber 90 degree flex pipe is off a BMW.
-Breather hose from Autozone
-90 degree piping down into fender is an AEM Short ram intake for an 02-03 WRX.
-Reducer coupling from 04 Acura TL Injen CAI
-45 degree bend from EBAY intake off old school Accord
-Filter and reducer inlet from 04 Acura TL Injen CAI

This design allows for:
- Easier access to battery and other components
- Frees up engine bay space
- Cooler air temperatures into blower unit

The notorious 'whine' from the blower has been increased by 200% (it sounds bad ass)

More prone to hydrolocking

After removing the Comptech Air box and foam filter i discovered why i felt a loss in power...the filter was filthy! and then i reminded myself that i have put 10,000 miles on the car since the blower unit install.

The power has been restored if not improved.

I asked one of the Comptech Reps at SEMA Auto Salon about their design of the UA6 supercharger intake and he told me they got better airflow with their design. I'm not sure if my design allows for more airflow than theirs but regardless its loud as hell and i love it even more!

haha nah it didn't cost too much...the BMW tube was basically about to go in the dumpster after some cleaning in the warehouse i came about the part and thought it might be worth salvaging. The WRX intake was off my brother WRX and was an indian trade for a sparco 4 point harness. The ebay piping was from my brothers previous car and the Injen intake had already been purchased 2 years ago.

The hydrolocking succeptability is no greater than an AEM or INJEN CAI as the filter is in the same location.

I'm sorry sir but do you realize what you're looking at here!?!? haha

This is a one of a kind custom cold air intake for the UA6 supercharger kit designed by myself and the help of my brother.

As for your AEM CAI you should check your filter every time you change your oil. If the filter appears the be dark or discolored you might want to clean it with the K&N filter cleaning kit which will run you about $9.95 at any auto parts store.

i think what he meant to say was that his question didn't deserve a new thread, so he was posting in here? At least that's what I thought he meant. Btw, good job on that custom CAI!

nice, you should dyno the car with the new mod and/or go to the track to see if you can pull some better times with it.

Congrats and good luck.

I thought the battery regulator shall be connected to the battery?
How come one end connects to the pipe?

I like it, but if you are ever going to want to put a water/methanol kit on there to cool down the blower and for the IAT to read cooler you wont be able to because of the plastic elbow you have on before the throttle body. You might be able to add a solenoid to do it after the throttle body though. That is the next mod I am doing in a week or two. I will have it tomorrow and I will give some updates on it when I get in on. Me and AcuraDriver 2006 are doing it to our cars. If you look at there websitehttp://snowperformance.net/proddetail.asp?prod=auto010 they have a supercharged s10 making 60 whp and 21 lbs of trq. I would be more than happy to get half of that. I thought you might be interested since you have the most modded 3rd gen TL out. Just my

A "free" mod...guess that fits into the budget! Looks good, man...a CAI with the SC...nice! Did you add a bracket to be able to mount it to the engine bay like the Injen previously, or is it just hanging there?

It's quarter to 10, you should be at work! Don't tell me you're playing around on the internet at work . Anytime after work is good for me...I go past GMP every afternoon to avoid the construction...I can very easily pull in as I am on my way home. Not sure if the boss will let you take a cruise around the block on the clock, though...if not, any Saturday works...let me know, I can only imagine the sound!

If i come across a 90 degree pipe with a breather tube i'll end up swapping it out. I'm interested to see how that methanol/h2o injector kit will work...let me know when youve got it set up.

Thanks for the comments err body!

I drove the car today and the whine from the supercharger is ridiculousy loud...in a good way!

I talked to the guy that will be doing my installation last night.. He said he would like to do it after the blower in the bend that goes into the intake manifold, so you will be O.K. with your setup. AcuraDriver2006 talked to comptech yesterday and they said with running 5 psi boost it wont give any gains. I dont really want it for more power, it is a plus if I get it, but for me the important part is to cool down the IAT, when it gets really hot it looses power. I will be doing it in a week or two and I will give results. I would be happy if the blower would run super cold all the time, that is all I expect from this. Anything more, like I said is a plus. Ill keep you updated.

It will still be only 152, as that is what the top speed limiter on the car is set to!! So untill we are able to remove that the car will not go any faster.

I put 10,000 miles on the car since the supercharger was installed. When i uncovered the filter from beneath the air box it was pretty dirty. I should have taken a picture of it. I would just say to check it every 7,000-10,000 miles.

dan...k ...remember!...if you come up to HIN in 2 weeks you will be able to hear how much louder the car sounds!

Interesting...I'd like to know what your gas mileage is the old fashioned way (manually calculated)...I think the ECU is wrong.

I am sorry, but the MID is right on if you have not changed the trie diameter. I check mine manually and compare it to the MID, and it is spot on.

Yes, I realize this thread is 6 years old... ACCURATEin, I tried to PM you but your box is full, Ive just got a question about the intake, even though you probably changed it out a long time ago...
Im gonna do something similar, but I dont have any spare intake parts laying around. Im trying to eyeball the area and decide which car's intake would be best for cutting up and fitting in there (it would be easier to do if I werent in Afghanistan though...). Im thinking this one - http://www.ebay.com/itm/Long-Cold-Air-Intake-Kit-3-Blue-Pipe-K-N-Dry-Filter-for-Honda-08-12-Accord-2-4L-/281086633353?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item417211a589&vxp=mtr
Its got a 90 and 2 45 degree bends and a good straight section, and 3" pipe- do you think that would work? What size is the base Tl's TB- 2.5 or 3"??? I just dont know how much room I have once it goes down into the bumper area... Thanks for your help, BTW- you wouldn't happen to know a good AEM F/IC tuner in the Charlotte/ east NC area would you? Anybody else who might know the answer please feel free to chime in also

I wouldn't buy such an expensive intake to cut up. I did mine with a 98 Accord 4 cyl intake from eBay I paid $50 for and a good filter. I think I used a 3 inch 130-180 degree silicon elbow also from eBay and 2 straight silicon connectors. I have pics of the finished piece to give you a better idea of what you need. You will see how little of the intake you will use and that a cheap intake will be easier to chop up.

Sweet thanks for the info. I picked this one cause it has the K&N filter, which is $40 alone. I don't trust those cheap eBay filters. Ill take a look at the older accord intake like you got.

I think I found a winner- only $56... the piping is 2.75" though, is that the same as the 3.2l TB?
