Holy Lord that is loud. Sounds pretty good, but I am not a huge fan of the rasp. Just my taste...I'm loving the Dynamax!

Put a resonator on that please!

Some douche took the resonator off my girlfriends CL type-s and now I get the pleasure of having to weld in a new one. Sounds terrible at 2500... no offense.

J-pipe goes right in front of third cat and right after the PCD...if you look under the front of your car that first piping you see in front is your J-pipe....

Thankx but no thanks... as when I'm cruising it sounds nothing like that...I like aggressive sound when I'm WOT...but no offense taken to each its own.... oh yeah 2500k is annoying but bearable in my opinion as I'm almost never driving at 2.5k anyway im either coastin under 2k most of the time thru the city or above 3k on highway when feeling spirited....I'd be more than willing to drive folks around my way so you can see how the sound isnt bad when im driving....anyone from New England area I will be at the Natick mall meet so that would be your chance to see in person....

So when you drive from a stoplight your car doesn't rev to 2500+?

Sure its ok when you floor it to have some sound but driving slowly around the city streets slowly and having it resonate is annoying.

I can rev from a stop in the city and not get to 2500rpm, i think maybe once in a while i'll have to throttle it and get at around 2800-3k and then coast at around 2k and it shifts thru the gears just fine(or u can have it in manual mode) but it really doesnt bother me for the couple of seconds that im at 2500rpm....if u drive at 2500rpm all the time then i dont know what to tell you...im just used to getting around that and the trade-off is better for me ,but like I said to each it's own

Just replace the stock mufflers with straight-thru style.

Take your car to your local exhaust shop and have them cut your stock mufflers out and replaced with straight pipe. And Boston, is adding the J pipe really worth the $230? or however much it is?

Yes combined with PCD's, IMHO it's a very good upgrade for a vehicle with not much to offer in the aftermarket world besides the obvious supercharger which not everyone wants to sink that much for that....So it comes down all up to you and what you want out of the TL...J-pipe is a better mod than a CAI in my opinion, but not saying CAI isnt a good mod either

So it would definitely make it louder then? I'm gonna invest probably on down the road. What is PCD? Is that Pre Cat _____?

well if your stock and just getting the J-pipe, then no it won't really change your sound..it's when you start deleting resonators and muffler or the cats...and yes PCD is PreCat Deletes, which replaces your OEM cats with these test pipes in it's place...very good power gains with J-pipe combo

I'll look into that for sure. I have the 3rd cat deleted, and everything after it deleted and I'm running my stock tips and also a Magnaflow muffler. So it's more or less a Magnaflow catback system but I'm gonna look into the J pipe and PCD but is the PCD just pretty much like cutting out your stock cats and replacing with straight pipe? Where are the o2 sensors?

still use o2 sensors, there is bungholes on the pipes that the o2 sensor go basically same spot as where it would go into cats and you also get defoulers with the kit which is basically a spacer tube that is angled for fitment and goes on the bottom to give a diffirent reading of the top o2sensor which is directly in the pipe

Oh ok I gotcha. So it wouldn't be the same as me just having the cats cut out and replaced with straight pipe then new bungholes put in for the o2 sensors?

There is definitely a very distinct difference between Stage 3 and Stage 4. For those wanting to get an idea of what Stage 3 sounds like, it's like a third in volume than what BSTS posted in his videos above. That's crazy loud.

why so funny? and if you mean did I powder my cats no didnt as I park in garage and clean the salt off very frequently in the winter, a bit of a pain but couple of minutes cleaing salt off goes a long way

thankx......actually as loud as the videos seem when im just doing light cruising around city or coastin on the highway not WOT it's very quiet for a stage4. I've had numerous times cops behind me and if im light on the gas pedal i have no problems, plus its a good way not to speed in the city as if I do it gets loud so keeps me under city speed limits lol....I have my fun on the highways

yeah pretty very significant diffirence, but stage4 is not for the faint of heart..lol like i've stated before Stage4 is usually a hate it or love it type deal....But I will say that In person it does sound alot better than the videos...good looks on all comments as I like to see all views whether good or bad....

might wait a bit and see how I can deal with rasp and then go with a resonator either dynomax or magnaflow, but for now I'll deal with it since I can cruise around without it being loud....but that 2500rpm drone is killer to those who can't stand the rasp lol

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DHcGkExOTNs

I was trying to open her up more than what I did but I was running out of room and on the highway I would slow down to try to start from second but I could never slow that much down because of cars behind me approaching on me, had a good one which I got to like 135mph after I waited a while but thinking I had pressed the Record button I had not so shit out of luck with that clip and here in Boston clear space is really limited unfortunately....
what exactly was done to you exhaust when you are speaking of the droning at 2500rpm?

im looking to increase the volume of low deep note from the TL-S just a bit... is my best bet just a dynomax resonator?

personally looking to avoid the raspy sound

thanks!

if you want to avoid the rasp and get a deep tone swap the factory resonator for a dynomax one and straight pipe the Mid Muffler. aka stage 3 exhaust mod
