I currently have a stage 1 (MM delete) and gonna get the XLR8 V2 J Pipe (which deletes 3rd CAT). Others have said that it has a nice tone to it. So id suggest this before doing too much and blowing money.

Soooo I'm a newwwbb as you can see ..
06 25000 miles Pearl white navi

But what do guys think about mid muffler and 3rd cat delete??
Or even putting a hi flow cat instead???

I came from Lexus's which are notorious for their deep exhaust note.
These engines seem to be more "race car" sounding which is great but I need the deep twist..

So in theory
Mid muffler delete will give the good sound
And the cat delete will give me a lil extra power plus change the tone
Unless I go with a high flow cat
Ugh so frustrating because I don't wanna have a muffler guy go under the car again to do the cat replacement or whatever I decide to do lol

But is my theory correct?
Will deleting the mm and 3rd cat have Performance gains?
And will it sound raspy by taking the cat off???

I dont think you will gain a whole lot performance wise maybe 1-3hp by removing the 3rd cat. If you get a J pipe then ull def gain. If you keep the factory resonator I think u will have no rasp. I hate raspy sounding exhaust and that is the setup im gonna go. I havent really heard any sound clips on this setup so its really hard to tell.

If you're going to delete the cat, just buy a j-pipe. Go into my progress thread and listen to my exhaust. I have the RV6 V3 (deletes 3rd cat), MM delete, and the Dynomax 24235 resonator. I have zero rasp and it sounds great.

If you delete the cat and remove the mid muffler you won't get any rasp because the stock resonator is pretty big and will deaden any chance of it.

I got the 24235 because I wasn't looking for a coffee-can, or ricey sound. I figured if I started from the bottom of the staged exhausts, and worked my way up, I could find out what I liked and didn't like progressively, instead of jumping the gun and not knowing how many steps to back track to get the sound I wanted. I do plan on getting the 24234 instead of the 24215 because of the OE pipe diameter matches the diameter of the race-bullet muffler.

From my experience everyone more ppl are happier with the shorter 12" dynomax rather than the longer 18" 24235 that I got and dont really like...

Hey yall been lurkin in these stage 3 threads for awhile. After countless hours of reading and youtube watching, I pulled the trigger and bought the 24235. I currently have the stage 2 with the less commonly used magnaflow 10426. My car has a nice rumble upon start up, but then fades quickly. I also get that g35 sound from 1200-2700rpm. Anyways....

For the guys that have the dynomax 24235, do you think this resonator will enhance my current sound? I like how my setup is subtle yet present. I dont want to loose the luxury feel of the car, but I want a tad more sound. Any and all comments welcomed. Thanks.

I have the 24235 resonator and it has a little deeper tone, but not loud at all. I started out with a stage 1 (MM delete) and swapping the factory resonator for the 24235 dynomax didnt change much. I was actually disappointed. Im looking into swapping the rear mufflers with magnaflows now. you wont lose the luxury feel by swapping to this resonator at all.

Thanks for the feedback zachlone. So you skipped the stage 2 all together?

My question now is since both resonators are the same size will I even hear a change? Are the internals what make the difference? Sorry for rambling, I just dont want to come to the conclusion that I bought a cheaper version of what I already have.

Ok! I currently have the same set up like yours. MM deleted and Mag 10426. I totally agree with you that it sounds great; however, it is not loud enough for me. What I am going to do is change the Mag to Dyno 12"; because, from people experience, it seems like not much different in sound if we get the 24235, we likely hear the same sound.

Alright, so after doing much research I've decided to go with the stage 3 mod on my 08 TL Type S. From what I've read, it seems that the Dynomax 24215 is deeper and better sounding than the 24235 if you don't plan on putting in a J-pipe. What I was wondering was if the 24215 would fit the TL type s, since I have only seen them on base TL's. Thanks.

First sorry to revived an old thread but I ordered a dynomax resonator used of ebay the description was listed as 24235, I just got the package and there was the original invoice and it's a 24234. El Ban said that 24234 it's a 12 inch body but it's really not the actual size it's 18. I even found a video of the actual seller of resonator in YouTube and was wondering if you guy running the 24235 can tell me how much difference it's the sound vs the 24235, the link its below.

I am set on the 12 inch resonators, but will the 24315 or the 24235 fit better?

24235 is an 18" case length, so if you are indeed set on a 12" model, you would not choose this one. 24315 is not a valid model #. If you are instead referring to the 24215, that is a 12" case. Both fit just fine, but the 24215 has 2.5" in/out so if you retain stock piping (2.25"), there will be more weld material to close the gap left by the two different diameters.

I'm sorry, I was referring to the 24215 and I mean't to compare it with the 24234. The 24234 has the 2.25 inch in/out, so I was wondering if that would be the better fit than the 24215 with the 2.5 inch in/out?

A shop can fit either size. It's up to you, but ask the shop you are going to use if you want to get their preference.

I currently have the 24235 if I change to the 24234 will it louder??? I think the 35 is too quiet and I wanna change it to the 34 but only if it will make it louder.

34 is a 12" case, and the 35 is a 18" case. Less resonating area = louder. If you add a jpipe that deletes the 3rd cat and have a 12" resonator with MM delete, you'll probably get some rasp. After going with the magnaflow rears, I'm less of a fan of the staged 2 or 3 exhaust sounds. But you'll have to try the 34 and see if you like it.

Resonators aren't for how the car sounds when you rev its balls off in your driveway. Its for mid tones. Usually between 3-5K rpm. It allows those tones to escape so when you're in 2nd or 3rd and you roll onto your throttle you get a nice resounding burble.

Sounds tuned not loud.

This is my current setup.
On the exhaust side: V3 j-pipe, V3 PCDs, MM delete and a manga flow resonator.
It's a lot louder than it sounds.

Read no answer to this..

I know many have deleted the third cat using the J-Pipe..

Should have added that detail, I meant removing the cat with a test pipe..

So its a Stage 3 using the Dynomax 24215 and then adding a Test Pipe to delete the third cat, still using stock J-Pipe..

Quick Reply: Stage 3 Exhaust with different Dynomax Models
