Stage 1 drone?

Mentioned this in my other thread but wanted to start a new thread on this specifically to get more responses. Got my mid muffler replaced with straight pipe. Love how it sounds from the outside, but theres deff drone inside, not liking it. Anything I can do to stop this? Def didnt think there was gonna be drone from this. Would replacing the stock resonator with a dynomax resonator help?

replacing the stock resonator with dynomax resonator will not help with drone, it would make it worse. I'm surprised you have drone just with mid muffler delete. Best bet is to just replace your muffler and save up for another cat back you like.

buy an exhaust

i got my true dual and the sound was not was i was expecting....dont get me wrong it sounds deep and aggressive but has its share of rasp + drone.....someone suggested to me a "venturi tube".....i am gonna try that....but i dont see that tube helping in a stock exhaust with stages scenario...

If you go to that same welder that installed your tips anything is possible.

If it's exactly as it was then it should sound the same.

It's pretty tough to change the sound without some drone. You can spend a lifetime and a lot of money trying to find the sweet spot. Sometimes never finding it.

^^^ THIS

i know the sweet spot in the rpm range....if i keep it below 3700 rpm the exhaust sound is so sexy.....and above 4500....the engine takes over.....

3700-4300 i just close my ears....damn rasp

I was thinking of removing my mid muffler. Does it have any rasp with it removed? Or just drone? At what rpm is the drone?

nope no rasp at all. I love the sound from the outside. but inside the car the drone. idk rpm but its when i accelerate at low speed from a stop, then at higher speeds it fades.

Stage 1 has drone? I have never heard of this before.

I don't mean to sound stupid or offend you, but are you sure you removed the muffler and not the resonator? Mid muffler is the oval one in the middle down there.

Must have been a shitty weld job or something. I got my mid muffler removed and it just got a bit deeper. No drone.

I had stage 3 shortly after getting my car and never noticed any drone. I guess it's pretty subjective.

I was planning on doing the mid muffler delete too but now I'm not so sure. I also have rv6 v3 j-pipe installed so I feel like it would be even worse. All this with type-s quad catback.

Not so sure anymore.

You don't wanna delete the MM when you have a RV6 V3 J-pipe. A couple of threads from users saying that it made it raspy.

---

To the OP, it is the welding/pipe itself. MM-delete should not have any drone (major) issues. This is 100% a problem with either the piping or welding work. good luck

Hey

I just had MM deleted yesterday morning. There is drone but it's hardly noticeable and like everyone was saying its only from maybe 2200 to 3000 rmp and I honestly only notice under light acceleration. 50% throttle or more and it's nothing. From outside the car it's a dead sexy tone!!

The best $40 I spent ever!!! It cost me over $600 to get my rsx to sound the way I wanted, and $40 and 25 minutes for the TL

Does the OP have a manual or automatic? Autos tend to be more susceptible to drone across many types of cars.

I did the MM-delete and new resonator and I have a deeper more noticeable tone coming out. But none of the annoying drone.
