Slotted & Cross Drilled Rotors

I just received my rotor from cquence motorsports. They match perfect to oem I changed out all 4 rotors within 2 hours (by myself) I didnt even need to compress the brake pads
Here are a few pics. I likem so far but havent had to much of a chance to breakm in. And by the time i get home from work its friggin dark so excuse the pics.

So i ordered Brembo stickers to put on my caliper and remove the Acura which appears to be painted on. Anyone have a suggestion on the best application for removing the Acura writing on my caliper?

Uhm.. you could always grind it all down--repaint and apply the sticker
And the rotors look nice
Looks to concealed in that angle though. Do you have a more profile shot? =]

That would help if it was a badge, but like i said it appears to be painted on the caliper.

well i sanded it down and primered it, then painted it, in spring ill probably have it sanded and have a shop repaint it with and clear coat. But this looks just great you cant even tell its not stock unless you get really close up to it like 1'-2' away and look for it. I put on the real authenticate Brembo stickers.

That looks really nice man. As we all know, a decal will never hold up on a brake caliper for long. Between the heat, the dust, and the washes, it will peel. Look at my DIY thread that I posted a while back. You can get the same decal again and do it the way I painted mine with the Brembo logo. It will look great. I hope the decal lasts for you but I give it less than a month.

How do these compare to stoptech or rotora cross drilled/slotted rotors?

I never used stoptech or rotora rotors so i cant compare. Mine work just fine and fit is oem no complaints only praises, $250 shipped for all 4 with zinc platting to help prevent rust.

I looked on cquence's website but couldn't find the make/model # for the 07-08 TL Type-S which ones did you buy? I'm assuming the 07-08 Type-S are the same.

yeah they are the same. I found them on ebay actually, and called them up to place the order.
Heres the link on ebay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ACURA...Q5fAccessories

They are made to order and just specify that you have the type s and they have brembos in the front. Like i said fit is exact.

I shouldve known in this wisconsin temp at 20 degress today the frikken stickers are already peeling it hasnt even been 12 hours. i applied some clear coat so maybe that will help it last a little while longer. I guess i shouldve done it right the first time, but hey it will get done (professionaly) and they will stay on.

racingbrake makes a great pad- less noise and dust than Hawk and long life with serious stopping abilty.
Many ziners are on their rotor-pad combo for both the auto trans car, and the 6MT with its 4 piston brembo brakes and larger diameter rotors

see the off topic- sponsored sales threads for MrHeelToe- his signature has a discount code in it~! he has racingbrake brand stuff

Other good choice for pad or rotor is Rotora brand from Excelerate- check the ads and then PM or call the vendors with specific questions- if you live in the mountains or stop and go traffic...
There are different compounds and types for different needs

Ask the dealer to be sure, but I believe acura pads and brembo pads are different compounds, with brembo likely being more aggressive

Nope. Buy the pads at the Acura dealer and you get Brembo Instructions, Brembo Grease, shims and pads in an Acura box. Although, I've seen someone (BearAVHistory ??) post pics where his pads came, from the dealer, in a Brembo box.

thinkin of getting just ceramics from my local auto store
made a bad move by resurfacing the stock acura brembo rotors and put hawk pads
within a WEEK they were destroyed. each time i hit the brake the wheel vibrates and so does the pedal like hell. hawk pads are too hard and they destroyed my ac rotors....
so im gonna replace all 4. car has 41 k

Racing Brake Slotted w/ ET Series Pads. Check 'em out (from Mr HeelToe); great combo on my '02 TL-S and lots of guys here running them on the 3G.

what bs= hawk did not destroy your rotors!, your rotors should never have been resurfaced!

While the acura box may say brembo on it- the question remains-
what COMPOUND is the pad? they make several from street to track

Hey a little update... After applying clearcoat over the Brembo stickers they have managed to survive a winter without peeling away, with -30 windchills Plus how ever many mph i drive :S. I surprised myself that they are still on.

I have seen these rotors but many people have said to stay away from such brands and stick with Rotara, StopTechs, PowerSlot, Brembo and other name brand rotors. It's been said that the other rotors can warp easily or worse; some are not cross-drilled properly and can crack.

I don't know how true any of this is. I want to get stock sized slotted/drilled rotors but don't want to spend $650 to get name brand ones shipped to me. This price sounds more like it. I am gathering that you can positively vouch for these rotors, right Laser? No complaints? Anybody else have an experience about these Cquence rotors?

Yeah they are great so far 4k miles. The people that are telling you to stay away from probably never have even owned them before to know first hand to say something like that. Fit is exactly built to oem spec they still look tight. I would as of right now recommend them 100 percent, if you like the way they look and the price, there is no reason not to buy them. They work fantastic. I never heard of them before either nor have i heard about Rotara, StopTechs, or PowerSlot before. Brembo obviously, but i couldnt find the brembo in the pattern i was looking for. Go for it! its a great price and youll be happy.

Another brand to consider is R1 Concepts. They were recommended to me by another local member. I had them on my old TSX and they were great. No issues at all. I was looking at there premium series. Here's the link:

http://store.r1concepts.com/store/se...&submit=Search

And right now they have a 10% off coupon:

Track racing for continuous hours, no. Doing over 130 and braking fast yes, doing a 1/8th mile drag strip, 1/8th of the time out of my driveway to the stop sign and hitting brakes yes. I also have a roush mustang and i can tell you ill be ordering a set of cquence rotors for that too in the summer.

Me? I am VERY easy on the brakes, lol. I drive like a grandma 90% of the time. I let it rip maybe once in awhile if I am by myself on a good stretch of road with no cops. That's all, and even then I am nice to the brakes. Why make brake dust and kill gas? My car has 42K on it. Every time someone looks at my wheels or under the car at my pads they are like ???? They look like 20% worn at best. I guess it would be hard for me to crack rotors, lol. I won't be surprised if I get 75K out of my original pads.

I'd be doing the rotors purely for looks and nothing more. I can't justify the cost for a BBK. I don't drive the car like that. I am pretty happy with the peformance of OEM, not bad for this class of car.

I would still go with paint, I plan on doing that to mine here in a couple weeks after i have me garage epoxy coated...looks so much cleaner then just the acura symbol..I'm going to paint over the Acura logo all black, let dry, then spray the Brembo logo on in a nice red!
