Question Shift boot removal - low impact

I am trying to remove the shift boot without removing the metal trim pieces. I can remove the carbon fiber trim plate around the shifter but the boot appears to be stapled to a plastic frame. The frame must have some retaining clips that are out of view from the top.

I hoping you guys who have installed the SS kit remember how the boot was secured and can help here.

it's secured by screws underneath.. you have to remove the center console and most of the panels
