Setting up the TL for the track
I was actually looking to do a few autocross events. I have my first in the beginning of November since I just got the car. I tossed over 100 pounds off the car so far and still have to take out brake dust shields and the subframe dampener. (Thanks Inaccurate
and after the winter I'm planning on putting some Falken 912s, removing 3rd cat and mid muffer. Anyone ever autocross before?

Something like the Nitto NT05 in a 255/40/17 (if you have stock rims) will work very well. This is a tire that will work great on the street but have near R compound traction levels at the track. There's nothing more important than tires for reducing your lap times.
I'm assuming since you mentioned the subframe dampener you're driving a 6mt with the Brembos. Brake-wise you should be fine with a pad upgrade.
Autocrossing is nice when you're using your daily driver. It's easier on everything and requires less in the way of brakes, less time at full throttle and high rpms but it seems to be just as hard on tires wear-wise. You won't put as much heat in the tires so that's a consideration too.

With autocross, focus on setting up the suspension and tires. You'll want more rear roll stiffness than road racing. You want the rear to rotate more than you would on a regular course. At a minimum, a Progress 24mm rear bar on stiff with the stock 6mt bar and go from there.

Thanks for the insight. Unfortunately NTO5s wont work too well for my 25,000 mile yearly commute unless I get some spare rims, which isn't in the budget right now. Not to mention NY winters wont be so kind. Around here the classes are mainly divided by tire compound anyway. Unfortunately I'm driving an auto
. Sway bar is definitely in the works though

For the sake of the 3G owning performance enthusiasts on acurazine, I am bumping this thread back up to the top!
I feel that this is one of the most informative threads in our performance section and to lose it in page 50 of the modifications section would be such a waste.
Good work and good driving there, OP. I will be revisiting this thread frequently and hoping to see updates!
