^none.
there will be no rasp with just a jpipe.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eTifsJrqcaE
the jpipe does not make the sound louder, only deeper.

the video shows stock intake-->stock cats-->RV6 V3 jpipe-->stock exhaust.
it sounds absolutely sexy.
you dont need a resonator, unless you hacked up your stock exhaust.
If you done any of the stupid "stage mods" then you'll have an ugly noise.

^as stated above....the "stupid stage mods" gets rid of the factory resonator.

you might have rasp because you chose to cut out the factory resonator.

at this point, its all trial and error now.
if you add the jpipe and dont like the sound, add a resonator to quiet it down.

Just ordered the V3 Jpipe and PCD's. Cant wait to get them put on.

Didnt get a chance to read through the entire thread, but is there a break in period after installing the Jpipe?

You have to drive under 20 mph for 500 miles or if you're a 6mt granny shift and you'll be good. but seriously there isn't any break in period just drive it normally. There is however the cardboard trick when installing it. This is done when bolting it up to align it properly so it doesn't rattle causing a rasp like sound. Info is in this thread I believe and in another one.

I don't get it. Why add the bracket and pull the two tubes apart? What problem are you trying to fix?

I think the bracket was added by the person that did the ceramic coating to ensure the pipes wouldn't touch.

Richie sounds like he's asking if they had a way to ensure that while coating the flex pipe portion, they didn't do it while fully extended because the ceramic won't hold once you recompress them?!?!

That's what I understood...

Does anyone know what the difference in power will be with the rv6 v3 j pipe and a stock j pipe with a high flow cat? I don't need exact numbers... the butt dyno is fine. Just wondering if Richie could tune in on this or if anybody has made the switch what their thoughts are. Thanks.

^^^the only reason I said what I said about that is because I'm making a few inferences.

Procat claimed:
20hp (or more) for ALL 3 high flow cats.

Jpipe alone is supposed to be about 15 to 17hp (more or less).

But V3 jpipe deletes that high flow cat that is part of the 20 that improved based on procats claims...so you'd lose SOME of that...I don't think there's an exact number but maybe you could add the 2....and deduct what you'd guess the 3rd cat bypass would give you along with the better FLOW of the Jpipe.

Arguably, the V3 is the best design of them all...but since you already have the high flow cat down there, I'd save a bunch of money and see if you can find a killer deal on the BM for a Richie or ATLP V1 or V2 that would still have the flange utilizing that 3rd cat. You'd probably save a few hundred off the cost of the V3 and I doubt it'll be a HUGE increase over what you have with a better designed Jpipe.

Hope that makes sense...

@vladkarnafel - i too deleted my mid-muffler (but i have it laying around in the garage). the rest of my car is stock.

im thinking of getting Richies v3 jpipe and leaving the rest stock for hp gains and a nice deep sound. (HFPCs/PCD add little hp for the noise/smell from what i gathered)

did you end up doing anything else to avoid rasp/drone?

[if anyone else has input too thatd be great]

I actually got rasp from the jpipe v3.
It got a little worse with HFPC but not much. The sound was worth it though...the power was awesome.
Also, I had a stage 3 set up at the time...

I got rasp too from the RV6 V3 j-pipe. I had no rasp before I put it on, even with my exhaust. I'm not sure what to do about it yet.

This is why I am not a fan of the mid muffler deletes. The modification brings your car to the verge of rasp. Adding any power freeing exhaust mods will cause rasp.

This is a good resource for solving issues with rasp.

https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-performance-parts-modifications-112/how-do-i-keep-x-exhaust-rasping-pcds-849750/

If you mid muffler is missing you will need to replace it with a similar resonator.

Volume of O.E mid muffler
h=6.5”
Circumference = 28”
r = ((28/3.14)/2)) = 4.46”
A= 3.14*(4.46^2)*6.5 = 406in^3

Give the Magnaflow 12616 a try it has a similar internal volume compared to the stock mid muffler.

If your exhaust is making a rattling/rasping noise and is stock give this a try.

I have been looking everywhere and can't seem to find an exhaust that is ALL dual. I mean Instead of the j pipe flanged into one pipe at the bottom, can there be two offset flanges at the end of the j pipe and then two separate pipes all the way to the tips? Or is there no room for two flanges on the bottom? I'm looking for two separate two inch exhaust pipes all the way from manifold to tips. Is there no room under the car for two separate pipes? I'm really curious about this and want to know all your guys thoughts. Thanks.

That custom exhaust looks great. I'm curious what it sounds like. Can you post a video of the sound please and where did you have that done?
