Haha I def. would but I have an 8am exam tomorrow so I might not be able to make that lol. But I was wondering because to get my mid muffler delete I went to a muffler shop and it was pretty pricey so I was wondering if any other kind of shop would be cheaper in general.

RV6 is making an exhaust? When?!
@Rich-That oil on the drive shaft was actually left over grease. They just cleaned it. Also pipe still not on. MIDAS refused to install it. Will be heading to projectx on Saturday and probably the dyno place after that.

Elementary question about using the jack stands....
I want to use jack stands but the problem is getting the car high enough to set it on the stands. I can get it up at the lowest setting of the jack stands but that isn't high enough to work under the car. The stands have higher settings but how do you get the car high enough?? My jack is pretty good quality but it's not going to get my car 3 ft in the air! I know someone may suggest using wood etc. under the jack but for one thing the wheels under the jack creeps a bit when lifting the car and I always hear the wood creaking underneath ready to break. 2 Jack stands seems riskier than 4. Is 2 adequate?

^^^NO...please use 4 jack stand on LEVEL ground. a member on s2k forums just passed on from being crushed under his car. car was on 2 jack stands and it rolled off of them. PLEASE excercise safety. this is one reason i will not install my pipe unless i have access to a lift. my $.02

Otherwise, he could get a 3 ton jack and jack it from the front of the car and put the jackstands under the re-inforced jack points on the sides of the car.
It's certainly a sad state of affairs for someone to bite it when they are working on their car, but in all seriousness I can pretty much guarantee the guy from s2k forums did not have his car properly jacked and supported. You're saying it "rolled" which would mean he didn't have the wheels secured - a common mistake people make. Engage the e-brake fully and wedge a brick or something to that effect between the rear wheels and the pavement and that car is not going to go anywhere on 2 wheels.

Yep I get all the rules about jacking, I jack the car up all the time, no problem.
What I want to really know is how to get the car high enough so you can actually get under it and put the J-pipe on. Seems to me the highest I can get my car is the lowest setting of the jack stands. The stands can go much higher if I could get my car that high off the ground.

Just installed mine on an 06 6mt, did it in my drive way on ramps. Jacked it up slid the ramps under each tire and put a chock behind the rear, very easily accomplished in your driveway.
Couple of hints, spray the bolts with PB the day before. If they are still tough to break loose, take a small torch and heat the nut, spray PB on the nut while it's hot let sit and cool nut should come right off. Hardest nut to break lose is the one behind the cat on the top.
Impressions: Pipe is beautiful and fit like a glove, but I must be one of a select few who really wasn't all that impressed. Sound increase is zero, the increase in tourque is very slight and barely if at all noticeable. IF it increased my HP by 15, then I say it's a good deal for the money but overall very little noticeable gains.

I installed mine over a week ago, didnt beat on it till few days after. Did not feel any extra power and even now it doesnt feel any faster.
Mine is 5AT so I dont know if that makes a diffrence.

Just installed mine today. Very easy to install nad looks great. Thank you very much Richie for a great product and excellent service. I got the J pipe in 3 days. Very fast!
Performace: I did not reset the ecu after the install. I don't know if I should or not. Some people said their car feels lighter, I have to agree with them. THe car feels more responsive when you gas it and alot smoother when shifting to higher gears. As for the HP gain, please, keep in mind that I'm used to turbo cars and how abruptly it pulls once you pass the turbo lag stage, I do feel the HP gain but seems like I have lost some low end torque. This could just be me not use to the new feel of the car.
Sound: I've read many posts about this product and I don not have the rasping sound some people are experiencing. Instead, my car sounds more throaty at around 3k and up. I love the sound. No rice sound here..
Overall, I am happy with this modification. I might have to drive it longer so the ECU can learn and I may feel more HP gain.

Ahh, so jealous... mine just cleared Canadian Customs yesterday, and should hopefully () be here tomorrow. This is my first big mod, other than the intake. Already have the plastic deflector off and the PB soaking!

^^^Yea man...I love how much power/tq this has!! I'm still getting use to it. I was suppose to go to the track tonight, but I will be going within the next couple weeks. Hoping to put down some reasonable #'s....

I love this J-pipe, gain a lot on Type S.
Last time I dyno my car with V3 J-pipe, AEM V2 and stage 4 exhaust(no mid muffler and resonator) put 268 WHP.
I will post the dyno graph soon.
Last week just install PCD and have not get any chance to push the car since rain a lot.
I'm taking my car to the track this Saturday and will see how she run.

Man it is SOOO worth the $$$. I put my car in manual mode today and drove about 20mph in 1st gear and punched it, and the tires lost traction....AMAZING to say the least!!! I will be going to the track soon....

How loud is the Stage 4 with the RV6 V3 Jpipe? I wanted to do a stage 2 but scared about the drone and rasp from what I read about other members with a stage 3 w/ RV6 V3 Jpipe. Dude I am sooo in for the RUN!!! Make sure you read inaccurate's thread on TL on a diet! When I go I will be removing my system, headrests, glovebox, and spare tire at the least.

Gains
Ok guys so I finally got the time to dyno and install my RV6 V3 J-Pipe.
Install:
There are a total of 9 nuts to remove, 3 per pre-cat and 3 on the third cat.
Front Precat
Rear Precat
Third Cat
Once all nuts are removed, jiggle that pipe around until its lose, remove the hanger (sorry forgot to take a picture, but its self explanatory)
The install of the new pipe is simply to reverse the previous steps.
When done the pipe should look like this:
Now trim the plastic heat shield so it looks like this:
Look at this sucker!! :
Driving impressions:
As a background, my car is a 2007 TL Type-S with a 5 speed Automatic Transmission. The power train is completely stock apart from a mid-muffler delete.
The mid range torque is fantastic. I feel the transmission downshifting less when passing or increasing speed. The top end makes traction even harder to find! It feels fantastic!
Sound:
While driving normally (and by normally I mean quiet “Ive got a client in the car so don’t wanna be an ass” driving) there is little to no change in volume. In fact with the radio up I wasn’t able to hear much at all.
This all changes when you go WOT. WOOOOWWW!!! The sound is fantastic. Deep and throaty, and absolutely no rasp at all!
As promised, I did dyno my car both before and after on a mustang AWD dyno.
Pre J-Pipe HP topped out at 225 (mustang dynos read low).
Post J-Pipe HP topped out at 237.
The mid range was substantially raised by 10-15 hp throughout.
Of note, the ECU requires time to ‘learn’ new modifications and since I really believe that this system can gain more, I will re-dyno the vehicle again next week.
Since the J-Pipe gained the same as on Richie’s TL I don’t feel the need to post dyno charts unless someone really wants me to.
