RICHIE that sounds great.....sounds very very aggressive.....yes i will be honest and say it does have a tad bit of rasp, but its barely noticeable and as you mentioned NOT BAD AT ALL for a DD car....

PS: damn man you killed that auto hahaha, i really cant wait, if you strike a deal with JnR with the ECU tune along with the exhaust.....you full exhaust + ECU + tuned will be an AT KILLLAAAA !!!!

Sounds amazing.
The JnR ECU will also get rid of that pesky rev-limiter.
It always spoils the fun when you want to get on it.

Will you be making a dual exhaust of this for those who don't have a Type-S rear?

i believe he is only going to make the type-s quads because of the lack of interest in base models from the first batch.

Let Richie update the list if you don't mind... I put my deposit in a few days ago and i know some others have too that are not on that list and I'm not sure how accurate the list is that you copied from, its over 2 weeks old and I'm pretty sure your not number #20. Just want things to go smoothly while we wait for production.

Richie, is it possible to incorporate the "farting" sound from the first batch (I believe the technical term is a VERY VERY CLEAR AND AGGRESSIVE DOPPLER EFFECT) as heard in the video at 0:09, 0:50-0:52 and 1:53-1:55?

Half the reason I wanted your catback was because of that unique sound... But I didn't seem to hear it clearly in any of your videos.

Thanks!

I totally agree with you on that one, maybe because he hasn't posted a video of his True Dual V2 Exhaust with HFPCD, just the V3 j-pipe??that's all i can think of right now because im looking for a smiliar sound that morrissey has...i hope that's the only reason it doesn't sound similar at this time.

I am sure it will sound the same. I just don't have the same driving conditions to reproduce the sound with my car. When testing the car i had to really baby the my dying trans.

+1000. From a marketing perspective, I think the time has arrived for this option to become available. A 3" minimum diameter.... go big or go home. Free flowing or don't bother with making a single system..

If the Single is made with 3" tubing with mandrel bends and a single free flowing (straight thru) short muffler, it would be one of the few catbacks that would actually increase power by a lot. It would be loud and super raspy but you can't have the power increase without the free flow and the associated noise.

Locate the one-and-only short muffler under the chassis, out of immediate sight, to alleviate the "Fart Can" stigma. The only thing immediately visible would be the upswept pipe.

Our 2 x 2.25" tubing has a internal cross section larger then a 3" exhaust. VVVV

Originally Posted by Richie v6
I would have to say yes our design will gain and support more power. Other than the sexy exhaust note. Here is how we came to the conclusion and decided to go with a true dual design.

Over the past couple of years we have noticed that there was more and more dyno prove that 3.0" and 2.75" exhaust were out performing 2.5" exhaust. Not just for Hondas but for all applications.

All 3G TLs have a 2.25" exhaust system. After doing some math we found a going from 2.25" to 2.5" doesn't really make that big of a difference in internal area of the tubing.

Assuming that all exhaust are made with a 16GA 0.065" walled tube. Here we will compare the internal area of the stock exhaust, the aftermarket 2.5" and finally our true dual exhaust.

Stock 2.25" exhaust

Area=Pi*r^2
Pi = 3.14
r= (2.25" OD - 0.065" Wall)/2 =1.06
Area = 3.14*1.06^2 = 3.53in^2
Stock exhaust internal area = 3.53in^2

Most aftermarket exhaust 2.5" 16GA tube

Area=Pi*r^2
Pi = 3.14
r= (2.5" OD - 0.065" Wall)/2 =1.185
Area = 3.14*1.185^2 = 4.41in^2
2.5" aftermarket exhaust internal area = 4.41in^2

2.5" exhaust percent increase over stock.
((4.41-3.53)/(3.53))*100 = 24.93% Increase

RV6 True Dual exhaust 2x2.25"

Area=Pi*r^2
Pi = 3.14
r= (2.25" OD - 0.065" Wall)/2 =1.06
Area = 2*(3.14*1.06^2) = 7.06in^2
RV6 True dual exhaust area = 7.06in^2

RV6 exhaust percent increase over stock.
((7.06-3.53)/(3.53))*100 = 100% Increase

RV6 Equivalent tube size.
r = SQrt(A/pi)
r = SQrt(7.06in^2/3.14)=1.5
Dia = ((r+wall)*2)
Dia = ((1.5+0.065)*2 = 3.129"
RV6 Equivalent tube size = 3.129"

As you can see the RV6 exhaust offers a 100% increase in internal tube area over stock while the 2.5" exhaust only offers a 25% increase. The dual tubing of the RV6 exhaust is also equivalent to a 3.129" exhaust. This is why we will be offering a 3" inlet for people with turbo setups.

But why not make a 3" exhaust? Have you ever heard a NA 3" exhaust sound this good?

You can make up your own mind. However I feel that 2.5" systems are only good for a louder exhaust and some pretty tips.

Haven't had much time lately to work on it. Someone was suppose to come by with a 3D scanner to scan the base bumper so we could model some tips. Once we get settled with the quads I will start looking into be base tips.

True. But the muffling components negate that flow advantage. How do I know? Because of dB. If it ain't loud and raspy, it ain't free flowing. Law of Nature that has not been defeated yet in the muffler world.

^^^ more than that, you are forgetting something Tim...

the X merge from the jpipe to the exhaust is only 2.5" wide and hence flow restriction and back pressure creations comes in from the merge and the split which turns into a true dual.....the the mufflers add further more back pressure....

none the less, the exhaust does sound SEXY.....

Racing (and Diet as a subcomponent of Racing) requires a willingness to make sacrifices. Looking cool (or sounding cool in this case) for the Bros ain't a sacrifice.
