Question for the SHORT RAM

I was trying to get a CAI, but I just worried about it would suck water in the rain,

so I m think about get a Short Ram, and my question is: Is it not good for the engine?

coz it sucks hot air to the engine, and will it reduce any HP due to the hot air?

thanks for ur help!

You could always get the K&N CAI. It will let you setup it up as a Cold Air or Short RAM. That is the one that I am thinking about getting.

As far as your question, I am really not sure about that. In the past when I had a Short Ram in my car, I took out the whole stock intake assembly. When I did that you would get some of the cooler air coming in.

I never found out if it is damaging to the car or not though. I don't think that it would reduce HP enough to be noticeable

that is why I am considering on getting the K&N setup. I don't mind taking out the bottom pipe and converting to a short ram if I have to. It doesn't rain that much in the Dallas area to where it would become a pain in the ass.

don't you have to submerge the filter in the water for it to suck water through the pipe, though? if yes, it would be very hard to do, wouldn't it?

Well it happened to me, the street had a lot of water on it due to the gutters in the road were clogged up from construction mess. I didn't realize it at the time, but my car was low enough to the ground for the filter to be submerged. Next thing I know, my engine stalled.

When I got it to the shop for them to look at it, they told me it wouls hydro-locked. I was going to get it fixed and dump an Integra GSR engine into it, but then the car got broken into. When that happened the insruance company decided to total it out.

If AEM had a bypass at that time, I would have bought it right away.
