i just got a 05 acura tl for my graduation present and ive started the process of modifying it. my concern is not the physical appearance of it but more performance. i was wondering if anyone has removed their mid muffler and has it made a difference in performance/ gas mileage etc etc. in addtion, ive done some reasearch on spark plugs and ive been told changing my spark plugs to performance plugs will increase my hp. i was wondering if anyone here had done any of these things and cud give me some suggestions.

Huge thread on modification of the stock muffler, including mid-muffler delete. "Stage 3" (mid muffler delete; replace stock resonator with Dynomax resonator) is the most popular mod to the Stock exhaust.

I'm sure it flows a little better and it is a little louder, but gains are probably minimal - a few HP maybe.

 

Have a read of the DIY section for Gen3 and read the regular gen3 thread title list for ideas

Spark plugs- dont use any of the funky seen on tv or magazine super performace sparking plugs on a TL
Use NGK Iridium IX plugs, about 7 bucks each at parts stores, and Seafoam fuel and intake cleaner is your best friend in a can

 

No need to change the spark plugs, they're already NGK iridiums. There's a large amount of discussion in here with bolt on parts that will increase the power. Congrats on your new ride.
