Need help with Magnaflow part numbers

I've read a bunch of threads regarding the custom Magnaflow exhaust systems everyone has, but each one gives different part numbers.

I want the G35c sound but don't want much (if any) drone.

Please list part numbers for what I need to accomplish this.

Anyone recommend an installer in the Cincinnati area?

Also, it's unclear if a magnaflow Y-pipe will be useful or not. If someone could clarify that as well, I'd appreciate it.

In my research I have found that most people are using either part number 14325 or 14362 for the muffler. I just posted a similar thread with a few questions myself.

I used 11365 which is a smaller case than the 14" mufflers. Will give you a little more sound but probably not enough to make a huge difference overall.

I looked at both of these and didn't see what the difference is... ??

SHould I replace the resonator? If so, which one is best for no drone?

Actually, they are both 2.25 according to magnaflow's website. The difference is one is 14" and the other is 11"

Hottexhaust's website says both are 14" which is obviously wrong.

I think I've figured out what muffler to use, can someone comment on if I should replace the resonator or not?

You might as well. Are you going to leave the mid muffler in or remove it?

If you want to change the length of the resonator I would buy an aftermarket one (magnaflow, dynomax, even a generic one). If you want to leave it the stock length (22"??) I'd save some money and leave the OEM one in there as I dont think there is much of a difference between the OEM one and an aftermarket one flow wise.

^-Yes, not on the TL, but on a Toyota Tacoma. They sound pretty good, more like a flowmaster though.

I used 14362 mufflers, replaced stock resonator with 12640, and I removed the mid muffler. My exhaust guy says stock pipes choke down to 1.75" at the Y. I haven't had the $$$ to replace piping from resonator thru to mufflers. He is a lot cheaper than Comptech.

Did you have to go with the 27" resonator because of the 11" mufflers?

I measured the stock resonator and it's 17" so I think I might be ok with a 14" if I get the 14" mufflers.

After talking to Jeff @ Hottexhaust- the longer the resonator, the less drone in the cabin. My exhaust sound muscular at idle, and G35 like from 2500 up.

Can someone explain why everyone that buys magnaflow gets 2.25'' and the Comptech is 2.5''?

Are you talking about the rear mufflers or for the resonators?

I was refering to the muffler. Shouldn't the entire system from the cat back be the same size piping? I thought that the system would only work as good as the smallest diamater of the exhaust?

I am looking to get the best power gain from an exhaust and am trying to do this the right way the first time. I know the power gain will be minimal but something is better than nothing. I don't know a ton about exhausts but if your piping is too large can't you actually have a power loss? With that being said what would be the best size piping, muffler, resonator and Y section for this car? I want to redo all of it!

You have been helpful so far and any other information would be great.

I dont know for sure since I havent seen any dyno numbers using a 2.25" system and a 2.5" system, but I dont think running 2.5" all the way back after the Y would make any difference whatsoever except with the tone of the exhaust. I cant imagine the 2.25" being too small and hindering the flow of exhaust...since it splits from the Y and goes off individually. I could be wrong since I dont have any numbers to support this but I think you will be ok using 2.25" unless you want a louder exhaust.

If you don't want drone, I'd keep the factory resonator. I did 14" magnaflow mufflers, removed the factory mid muffler, and did a 24" magnaflow resonator. Ended up swapping out the 24" magnaflow resonator for a Gorelicks 27" to get rid of the drone and raspiness (after putting on the procats).

Now it just purrs nice, deep, and no rasp/drone when just driving around town. However at WOT it'll let people know your coming.

What part numbers did you use? I'm looking at 14325 which is 14'' in length and I am also looking at 14362 which is 11'' in length. I have heard the sound is better with part number 14325.

Did you re pipe the system and if so did you go with 2.25''? I will most likely keep the stock resonator to reduce the raspiness. Raspiness sounds like shit IMO. I'd rather hear a growl!

^-Depending on what you do, I'd venture a guess and say they are the same. You can control the sound more with the magnaflow though

Just to Clarify... are you replacing all 3 mufflers, or just the back 2 and leaving the mid muffler factory? And did anyone verify the size of the pipe after the Y. I saw alot of I think's and pretty sure's, but never a solid YES it is ___ size.

The stock Mid muffler doesnt have any baffels... If I had to it to do over again, I would keep the mid muffler.

I would also get the smaller size pipe.
