Motor Mount Decision - Aftermarkets vs. OEM

Ok I think the time has come (175k) for me to change out the motor mounts on my '04 and I was looking for some input.

I'm interested in adding one of the aftermarket brands (XLR8 or IM) to increase the driving experience but have heard so many mixed reviews. Not like other parts i've replaced where the consensus is positive for the most part.

So for those who have went with OEM or aftermarket, please give your thoughts on each.

Thanks,
Mc

Not on the TL, but lots of other engines I've torches and burnt out the own rubber then used a tube of "Window Weld" $18 a tube, but well worth it. Just lay the metal tube part of your mount on its side and stand the small center peice the bolt slides though up in the center. Next take the Window Weld and evenly squirt it all around the center peice. Let it set up for about 24-48 hours and you have just made your own urethane mount....cheap, easy, strong and less vibrations than a solid mount

I have the XLR8 mounts on my TL-S and love them. The motor rocks much less, especially when in 1st at low rpm and when changing gears. When doing some WOT pulls, the car feels very strong and feels much more planted to the ground. I feel very little vibration on my 75a mounts, except when the car is stationary and you turn the wheel or purge any electronics which is when you can feel them a little bit. I would highly recommend them, not to mention they are a hell of a lot cheaper to replace all of them compared to OEM.

We've had mostly positive feedback on our XLR8 Mounts for the 3G TL. I would say 95% of people are happy with the mounts. The 5% who aren't are people that wanted no vibration but a more durable mount than OE. The mounts add a bit of vibration but nothing major. The XLR8 mounts are more durable, reduce wheel hop and a direct bolt on.

I was wondering how these engines felt with poly or solid mounts....my 408 stroker in my 04 GTO has solid mounts with cam shake, but no vibration....my d16 with solid mounts definately has a lot of vibration around idle but I don't really care....some would probably not like it though lol
