With that asking price, I feel like the ad/photos could be alot more descriptive/better. As great as the TL-S is, it's not some super collectible car. So even with those low miles...not sure who is gonna pay that much for a 12 year old car...

Agreed, but I bet it'll go for well north of $15,000.

I don't think it's fair to call a vehicle mint simply because of low mileage. The car also looks like it hasn't been cleaned since 2007.
Wonder what kind of maintenance has been done...if any

When I was shopping in 2017 I came across a 2006 TL 6MT in Red with a Tan interior (very similar to the Type-S in this thread) with 20,300 miles on the clock; they guy got $14,000 for the car.

Then again, bonus time is next month, if the car is still available, I might offer $15,000 for it and if accepted, pay cash.

I will say this, the driver's seat looks like it has a heck of a lot more than 40,000 miles on it; I think the seat in my 2006 with 150,000 miles on it looks to have about the same wear.

I dont think 18k is obscene for this as asking price and not saying this car is worth it since pics suck but I bet the final price for this TLS will be baselined against the BaT auction going on now. And while its not super collectible now who knows where it will end up, will it ever attain a Hagerty collectible status, no but I dont care I love these things always have and happy to see they are getting some long overdue love.

The same type of person that would pay $70k+ for a 25+yo S2000 on BaT even if it has obscenely low miles. Look at 80 series Landcruiser and 3rd gen 4runner markets, same question could be applied to those prices but never the less there are always buyers. Personally I'd pay for condition, mileage and documented care, I have all my life. If I was in market which Im not, 3 3rd Gens and 1 2nd Gen TL is enough, I'd pursue this vehicle.

Not a big fan of the tan leather, just does not flow right with that color combo. $18k is wayyy too much, Im guessing if it's a clean car, besides the seat, it'll go for 15k. I could buy one of my other dream cars for that price

- Honda S2000
- Toyota Land Cruiser
- Toyota 4Runner
- Acura TL
Of course there will always be exception to the rule. I'm sure there are die-hard 3G TL fans out there who are still wanting to buy mint condition 3G TL-S cars. But I guess they really really have to like it to pay that much.
Because certainly you will likely not drive it alot (unless you were somehow looking for a mint car to just daily/beater, which would drive down the value even more as you drive it) and cars like won't really appreciate that much so it's not really an investment like a mint S2000/Land Cruiser that will slowly appreciate over time.
In 10-20 years, it's all but guaranteed that a well kept mint S2000 will be worth even more than they are being sold on BaT....how about a 2007 Acura TL-S in 2030?
Look, I think the car gets lot of respect and love, no where more than here on this very forum. I think the love for the car doesn't have to be tied to its selling/market price. Lot of things are cheap but are still great/beloved
I upgraded from my 1st beater of a accord to a Acura TL. And I STILL LOVE this car. I think we're all in agreement that it's not knocking the car in anyway shape or form. I actually am looking to upgrade my 06 TL to a 3G TL-S and while I can easily dish out 15-20k if I wanted to, I'm not spending it on a low mileage 3G TL-S. TO me the value proposition is not there. But it's not a bad car and the TL will always have a place in my heart as a wonderful sedan that combines sportiness/style/functionality that Acura hit it out of the park.
But of course to each their own. People spend lots of money on all kinds of crazy things.....

@nist7, many of us can justify the relatively high price of a 3G TL 6MT simply because they want a very good daily driver sedan with three pedals under the dash. If I were to opt for a $15,000 low mileage TL Type-S 6MT, it wouldn't be to let sit in the hopes of appreciation, I'd drive that sucker practically every day. The thing is, even low mileage example at $15,000, is still a bargain compared something newer, even when maintenance is factored in.

There is a MRP 6MP with black/silver interior and the aspec kit on it for sale in VA. It has high miles but I would rather buy that for $6,000 then pay $18k for this one with the wrong color interior and no aspec kit on it. Also that car doesn't look mint.

The owner of this low mileage MRP TL-S is lazy as hell not to show off the potential of the car. His offers will reflect his laziness.

Edit: the current bid is up to $12,000, still a good buy, but not a smokin' deal. I'm betting it closer to $15,000 before the auction closes.

In this case I think it definitely comes to the individual where each person has to decide how much to value a 6MT TL-S.
While I love the car as much as I do, at my current stage in life I'm not sure if I would spend 12-15k on that car. For me and as I have a wife now, we're looking at basically auto econoboxes and then my weekend drivers will be something in the realm of a S2000/Corvette/etc. etc. Unfortunately wifey has 0 interest in cars...
When i was younger and would've loved a combination sportiness/practical sedan, I could not afford a 15k TL-S so settled for a base auto TL which I still drive.
But certainly in the end it comes down to whomever is willing to pay for that type of car and each person will value their dollar differently.
I would take a look at higher mileage examples if it was closer to the 10k mark though....

If someone is selling a high priced car - they should put congruent amount of effort into high quality photos and a very well put together description as well.
Unfortunately, the ad screams of a seller who likely has some knowledge of what the car is worth (more than a typical family sedan of that era) but is firmly in the stereotype of the people who say "I know what I have"

In my case, my wife and I are older and we are both allergic to driving cars with automatic transmissions. Given new cars in the class of the TL with manual transmissions are few and far between these days, the 6MT models are already worth more than their automatic siblings, and I expect the delta between the two to continue to grow.
