yeah worked out great, totally happy with it. Only issue was the straight pipe was hitting the shield so I had to take it on the lift a second time but took 10min for the guys at the shop to fix. Camera was taped with some supertape I found at work, strong as hell and didnt leave a mark!! tempted to try some more filming....

Will the magnaflow and mid- delete add drone noise inside the car? I can see where the dynomax would but wanted to ask before ordering.

Yes from what I hear, it does change the exhaust note a little bit.. It is supposed to be a little deeper, but im not so sure how much its changed.. I would love to hear it for myself..

Honestly with the dynamax res I have absolutely no drone.. You cant really hardly hear the exhaust at all.. Having my GF or my mom in the car and they could not tell the difference from stock.. Only YOU will know..

$43 and 25 minutes later. Notice some improvement in sound. I like it. Worth the $43 for sure. I got prices of over $100 to the $43 I paid. One guy tried to charge me more because he said it would make my car fail inspection. not... it's not a cat it's a muffler. lol

Learn to read...FFS

Stage 3.
(Tone result TBA)
Stock exhaust.
Remove mid-muffler. Replace with 2.5" straight pipe.
Remove stock resonator. Replace with Dynomax resonator part# WLK-24215.
Dynomax resonator is a 12" long resonator, which is a bit shorter and less dampening than the magnaflow resonator, thus it should give you a bit more loudness/tone than stage 2.
Cost: Dynomax resonator costs around $40. Install ranges from $60 - $90 w/aluminized pipping.

If you want a Stage 3 then get a dynomax. If you want Stage 2 then get a magnaflow. Very simple.

I dont know the exact length, but when you bring it to the shop they will cut it to the correct length for you. And yes, 2.5" is the size pipe you should use.

Just wondering any noticeable drone with stage 3 at cruising speeds? I can definitely tell its louder but will the resonator keep most of the low frequencies out of the cabin?

Actually if I recall correctly the stock exhaust replacement would be 2.25" therfore you should use a Dynomax #24234 or #24235...

The correct part number is Dynomax 24234.

Whatever size that is, is what was originally recommended in Mike's (aznbo187's) thread on chopping the stock exhaust.

OK I found the Dynomax #24234. 2.25" opening on both ends-$49.95

The Dynomax # 24215. 2.5" opening on both ends-$39.95

Strange, same exact length, diameter.

What diameter is our OEM TL exhaust? My car is at Acura having the body kit being put on, otherwise I would go measure.

So the 2.25" res would fit inside the TL OEM exhaust, correct? Just put a weld around it.

No, get the 2.5" resonator. The correct part # is 24215. That's what everone else has been using with good results.

mglax, you are correct that in the original stock exhaust mod thread, Milke (aznbo187) started with the Dynomax 24215 (sorry, JD, I went back and re-read the thread and my previous post was incorrect).

However there was much discussion later on whether the 2.5" or 2.25" was "correct" or "better". Don't know that a concensus was ever reached, but I am sure people have bought, installed and used both with no issues.

I can vouch for the 24234 working on the TL-S - I've had it in for ~18 months.

Here is where a lot of the 2.5" v 2.25" Dynomax resonator discussion begins: https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...=24234&page=18

JUST A NOTE FOR EVERYONE..
originally.. aznboi mentioned about using WLK-24215.. but the problem is.. the ID is 2.5 inches.. and our car comes with probably la 2 inch ID... so itz better off if you go for 24234 which has ID of 2.25 inch =)

this is only the case for people with stock exhaust! i mean.. if you have comptech cat-back.. you might wanna measure it.. and i am guessing 24215 would work best.

i will post some video/audio clips later =)

to recap

STOCK EXHAUST ---> use DYNOMAX 24234

Bearcat, I did not know that. Learn something new every day! That's why these forums are so great! I'm surprised that I never came across this since I searched "dynomax" about 20 times before I bought the thing.

Well I already have the 24215, so I'll go ahead with that since I don't feel like returning it to summit!

Theoretically, i would say the 2.25 will bottleneck the design cuz u end up putting it IN the piping and not over or even flush with it. But then again, I'm no rocket scientist.

No matter how you do it, one pipe will be inside the other. And that means there will be a little bump to burble the air. Right? ??

Regardless, it doesn't really matter. Altering the stock exhaust gets you near 0 gains; it's more about changing the tone a little bit.

I think the real bottle necks are at the J-Pipe, the Cats, the y-pipe and the mid-muffler.

I cut out all the resonators after the cats and added the atlp jpipe....got rid of the drone and got very nicely loud sounds better than any g35 junk out there...plus theres no tone to listen to at stop lights its just quiet until u go over 2000rpm

I just got an e-mail from MotorWeb.com that the Dyno # 24234 is no longer available.

I have a stock 2006 TL.

I am going to now order from Summit, I should have ordered from them in the first place but they were $10 more then MotorWeb.

Which one is the best to order?

#24215 or #24234
