Looking for G35 exhaust note....

So, after searching (something you should be suprised I do with under 200 posts ), I read through about 14 pages of a 36 page topic on getting a little more sound out of the factory exhaust system.

These posts were in 2006, so I'm wondering if the same opinion is still shared or if there are better recommendations now.

Basically, instructions were:
To get a little more tone, but no rasp or rice howling, delete the mid muffler and replace with a 2.5" stainless steel pipe. Then delete the stock resonator and replace with Magnaflow model# 10416.

If the same still goes, please let me know. Or if there is a resonator that ended up being cleaner sounding than the Magnaflow, please suggest it.

Thanks!

I don't have the mid-muffler or resonator and just installed a race pipe It's a little raspy but overall sounds awesome! With the just mid-muffler and resonator deleted the rasp was pretty bad at ~2500 RPM's. You should be pretty happy with the set-up you listed above

Awesome. Now all I have to do is find someone who has it locally so I can get it done early next week. That might be hard though.

Okay, I got the Magnaflow 10416 for $50 shipped from someone on ebay. I checked out a few videos on youtube which didn't sound too hot. I don't get it. I listened before and it sounded great, and now, all I hear is shitty rasp or a rice car sound.

In that video above both cars sound great.

I think what I'll do is get the magnaflow resonator welded on, ask to hear it. ....if it sounds good, I'll just leave it at that.

If not, then I'll ask for the mid-muffler delete.

Does that sound okay? or would that just be ass backwards?

If both ways sounds like shit, you'll see a 10416 resonator in the black market, and I'll be looking for whatever exhaust set up the cars in that video (on this page) have.

lol. well i'm not worried about it not doing enough, i'm worried about it being too much....as is that coffee can sound that's imfamous for cheap bolt on mufflers for 96 honda civics.

I had a 01 civic with full catback Greddy which sounded pretty clean but still had some 'rice' car note to it.

....I don't want that for a TL. I'm not 17 anymore.

Dynomax resonator + mid-muffler delete was my firt set up and i loved it. You get a much nicer sound for only $100-150.

Get in on that second batch of ATLP base exh. There should still be a few spaces left. I had a resonator added to mine to be on the safe side. I think they sound awesome but i wanted to make sure it wouldn't be too loud in person. I figured i can always just take it out and weld up a new straight pipe. It wouldn't be a hack job I would make sure if i took it out it would look like it never came with one in the first place.

^^^ Smart man!

If I could physically kick myself in the ass for not including the resonator, I would do a super hard ninja kick. The quads were way louder than I thought. I wasn't planning on buying, but when I heard they were stopping production I jumped in at the very end and didn't want to spend any more than I needed. But when I accelerate hard, man it does sound really nice. I added a Magnaflow high flow 18" stainless muffler where the OE resonator was, and it did tone it down just a hair, and seemed to make the exhaust note a little deeper.

Here is my setup and this is the closest it ever sounds to the G35/350Z.
I have E-shift procats-ATLP Jpipe-ATLP Test pipe-factory resonator- deleted midmuffler-stock exhaust.

I will try and get a clip soon. I just had this installed last week and I must say the 3k-4k tone is perfect G35/350Z esk
