i read through the comments and did not see one person mention their personal experience or reception of the increase of diameter of the intake.

I have an 03 maxima and the 4" intake mod is very popular, with supporting mods, there have been dyno sheets showing increases of power as far as 20+hp as well as tq increase, but the maxima uses MAF not MAP which is why a tune is required,

I was just curious to see if anyone had any noticeable gains. Im a firm believe in the 4" as i had it on my car, with GTR injectors full 3" headers, y pipe and exhaust, bigger throttle body, ported manifold, manifold spacers and other things that had that car moving.

so, without supporting mods and a tune, it wont do much for the TL.


the thread starter, anx got his car to run 13s in the quarter, but he's tuned and had a bunch of supporting mods...

Ah gotcha well that figures, im not gonna go Knee deep into performance with this car, just want to free up air.

I want to keep it as reliable as possible, ill do the intake, PCD, j pipe stuff, muffler mid section and maybe the TB upgrade, was told to do the pulley as well but thats as far as i go.

I'll never repeat the same mistakes heavily modifying my daily driver ever again lol. The mods list on my maxima was WILD! Made almost 9 grand in the partout alone, selling the car for 4k hopefully this week!

i was sure throwing on an intake wouldnt make the car lightening fast, but i wasnt sure of others who ran a 4" on other platforms

since you're doing ALL of that stuff to the TL, might as well go for a 4 inch intake

just depends on you and your goals and your budget

Goal is to make it a slightly faster daily, while still keeping it reliable with not as many weird issues, like weird idle and stupid check engine lights.

As far as budget goes, ive got some parts aside and an installer for these parts so im just waiting on the car.

Sellers neighbor backed up on the bumper -__- so her insurance had to pay to fix/paint it. Car was dropped off friday, already got in touch with jesse who does the AMP upgrade for the car.

Just planning ahead as i go lol, also got some headlight stuff from the retrofit source, doing the clear lens mod, adding a second set of projectors in the DRL section to work with the stock bixenons and halos as well as demon eyes haha.

Now im deciding if i should get a second set of lights or do this over a weekend as a project....
