just tires...

So I ask those who have kept the OEM rims and changed their stock tires...have you maintained the width ?....
I buy my tires online and the site I go to suggests I can increase the width from
235/45-17 to 255/45-17 which IMHO would protect the rims a little better since the 235 just barely clears the rim...any comments or personal experiences?..
BTW I increased the width on my previous purchases for the RSX-S, Element and Civic Si never had it rub in the wheel well and no problems in the snow...

I went with 245-45's(Michelin Pilot Sport A/S)and the ride was more comfortable and did excellent during last winter(Michigan).I don't know about going to a 255 tire tho.

Thanks Tom, I may try the 255's on my next purchase, One comment about the Pilots, those were the OEM on the 2002 RSX-S and I had bad luck with them, hydroplaining was the reason why I switched them with only 200 miles on them. I could not believe the difference when I put some Nitto's Extremes and increased the width, on the sam note I couldn't sell them for over 3 years and basically gave them away to a friend . Maybe they've improved and or with the car being heavier hydroplaining is not an issue...
