J&R ECU Shoutout - What Firmware do you have

Anyone who owns the new ECU, can you tell me what version of firmware that came loaded on your unit?

All the ecus were sent out with 1.00 I believe the old firmware but now there's the 1.14 ,I think the code we get is from loading tune from 1.00 version into the 1.14 which still work work it will tell you theses a mismatch , the fix is to completely build a new tune in 1.14 software the numbers from version 1.00 in base map can be used may copy and paste or import ,if not ill make a new base map in the new 1.14 version and send it out ..

For anyone who is interested:

J&R has implemented a trigger wheel function that has been added as part of the alpha release and not included in the stable release.

The current stable release is 1.0.4 and the latest Alpha drop is 14. It is recommended that we go to that version.

My ECU came with drop 4 which was pulled from the MS3 distribution for a nasty test bug and I was concerned right off the bat, but I found that it was truly a test only bug but I would never be able to get rid of the mismatch errors and was unclear if I could go above or below the version I had. After doing some research on my own and talking to J&R's tuner, I am comfortable with going to the latest version.

I'm going to keep track of the 1.1 development and will keep in contact with Rodney with the goal of eventually going to the stable release of 1.1 whenever that happens.

I transferring everything to my carputer now. Still need to get the usb-serial interface installed/configured and working as well as creating a new project, updating the firmware and loading my tune.

I've also got a dog that just had major knee surgery and need to keep her down for 8-12 weeks so this may pull me away from this project.

Not exactly sure where to post my progress. Might be good to keep this one going for updates to the firmware as it happens.

Just curious, does J&R have a lot of its ECU? Was wondering about setting up a Gb.

+1

I'm planning on ordering one at tax time but I could be persuaded to do it sooner if the deal was a little sweeter.

I'm glad everyone is finally getting their ECUs. My friend who bought my car wants to to buy one. I'll have to let him know that they are now shipping.

KN_TL, I just had to have dual(both legs) TPLO surgery done on dogs knees. I rescued him with two blown knees. So, I understand where your coming from. I did not get much done during his recovery. It is also a pretty expensive procedure. My total for both legs was around 7K after everything was said and done.

Rodney will have to answer but I think they're still only being produced one at a time. In talking with his tuner, he is all over the country with his race team and Rodney is by himself and probably pretty overwhelmed by the workload.

Dan, that is exactly what she is having. The cost is very high, we'll pay a bit more than you if I double the cost for one but it's patented process and the original cat gets a cut for every surgery done...what a scam. She comes home today and I have no idea how long this road will be, but with the cost, we'll do everything we can to keep her quiet.

What does this mean? Trigger wheel function, alpha release, stable release?
I just hope this thing ships before I mothball the TL and move on to new parts for the mustang.

It's the progression of software development which is Alpha, Beta, Release Candidate and Release. It appears as though trigger wheel function was already there but needed to be tweaked so it goes into the first phase of release which is Alpha. It will eventually progress through when they decide to contain a release with a given set of new/updated functions.

What is the trigger wheel function and how do the new functions relate to the TL?

I'm assuming it's a crank trigger. Determines the rotational position of the crank or cam depending on the usage.

Hi speed ill have your ecu in on the 15th ,as I have two scheduled to be here and one is yours ,Kn I haven't been in to get you the tune which I apolgies ill be in tomorrow nite so Thursday Friday you can count on an email ....the 1.14 is the latest software available to date the program writer should have an update soon ,the problem is with new update from the older version when you connect it gives you a mismatch file ,this is fine you can still connect to ecu to get rid of this you'll need to start a new project copy and paste values from older version and move it in 1.14 ill get this to you with new 1.14 with loaded tune ...
