Yes, I ran mine around a big oval (with wicked steep banks) on good tires.

And speaking of confidence UN-inspiring, I have had my Turbo B16 CRX (build for SCCA racing) up to 155 or so a few times (9300 rpm) on Topeka's Heartland Park road course. That is just down right terrifying. At full boost, it floats all over the place past 120 or so. I never even go that fast unless I am out away from all the other cars.

The 1900 pound weedeater...

It would do 172 mph GPS verified at 7300rpm. Not bad for a 13 year old brick

172mph......add a pair of wings then you can Fly....

157mph is the highest ive seen 5th gear. The cars rpms does bounce once its reached its max i cought the 157 on the bounce but 155 is "max". 6th gear about 135 sounds right it just doesnt have the power to hit 155 in 6.

Hmm, 80 feels slow, like it's dull and boring, and almost nap time slow, in my 2018 TLX. I'm older and more responsible now, I should be ashamed to admit this, but, when I was younger I used to drive home at 120MPH from the night clubs at 3 AM on Saturday night/Sunday morning, because all the cops were looking for drunk people driving slow, they just let me blow by without looking twice That was in a Golf GTi, not sure which is more comfortable at speed yet (my old GTi, or my current TLX) because I haven't driven it over 80 MPH yet myself. Let my friend drive it some and he went up to just over 100, that didn't really feel fast either? I mean not like "oh shit slow down man", more like "oh, was that really 100? Didn't feel too fast at all"...

Also, I never had a TL, so I don't know if the TLX feels more confident at speeds of 100+ compared to the older TLs? So far, folks I've read that said they had both said the TLX handles better, they just don't like the tranny as well.

I don't really wanna cruise at high speeds, I don't want to kill myself or somebody else either, I got kids to look after - but I do sure as Hell want more torque down low for 0 - 30 to happen a lot quicker :/

Dude, I went ten years without a speeding ticket after I moved to Ohio and had my first kid - what are you worried about?

Funny though, I was just in court this morning over a speeding ticket that I wanted to get dropped - I was going 65 in a "construction zone", but there was no "construction" going on whatsoever, just a convenient spot for a cop to earn some money for the city. Instead of $200 they dropped it to a "no points" $50 ticket. Still not happy with that, but, didn't want to press my luck, or pay for a lawyer.

The problem here in Columbus is not me, it is the assholes that don't seem to know what a turn signal is. I've been hit TWICE by people coming into my lane without signaling first! So, I get a little peeved every time I see some asshole failing to signal. Still, I don't do anything to those assholes beyond honking my horn and cursing at them...

If somebody is driving a car like a new TLX, or BMW 745, it doesn't even really make sense to pull them over for speeding if they're doing 80 in a 65 on the highway. Unless they're driving aggressively, or so old that they can't see well anymore, those drivers are not the ones who are going to hurt anyone. There are plenty of other drivers that cops should be worrying about like the jerks that cruise 5 MPH under the speed limit in the left lane, the ones that fly past people on the right, weaving around, people that don't signal before changing lanes, or when turning at intersections, etc. Those people cause accidents and make problems, do something about them instead of just trying to make money off of "speeders" who aren't harming anyone.

I should have clarified, when I said "I'm older and more responsible now" : That I don't really want to go very fast anymore these days, it's just that if I'm on the highway going 70 in this car I keep looking down at my speed and thinking: God, do I really have to go this slow? Because it seriously does feel slow to drive 70 in this car, on the highway.

Dude, I'm sorry - I thought you were serious. Can't see your face when you talk, on a forum - I say stuff all the time that ends up being taken wrong, upsetting somebody when I would have just as soon bought him a pint and shook his hand, had we been at a pub instead of arguing across the Internets...

I mean, what I did when I was younger actually was an asshole thing to do - I also should have clarified that when I went that fast it was when the road was empty and it was a 6 lane divided Interstate highway (west of Philly, headed back into the city) - I could drive in the middle lane and even going that fast, there was no way, that I would have been unable, to slow down in time to prevent an accident. My VW GTi had insanely good brakes and "summer performance tires". One time I had my buddy in the car with me and he thought it was great being able to go home that fast, yet actually feeling safe at that speed because the car handled that well.

I wonder if one of those metal yellow star F.O.P. supporter badges screwed over my license plate would help me not get a ticket next time I'm pulled over for speeding? 'Cause now that I have this TLX, driving 65 on the highway is simply gonna drive me nuts! I suddenly have a new found hatred for speed limits, and wish that we could be like Germany or something. (And particularly, not have assholes that can't seem to understand "Keep Right Except To Pass".) When I was growing up, nobody even dreamed of staying in the left lane when they drove on the highway, you stayed right, and only went in the left lane breifly to pass, and go back as soon as you can to the right lane. These days it seems like the opposite is true - like the roads are full of people that think "if you don't like me driving in the left lane, TOUGH, too bad!" WTF? Why?

This thread is almost 8 years old... why did you find it necessary to bump it and tell us that you were a douche?
You don't even have a 3G TL. Why not find a newer thread in TLX to get reps?
Also.. what????

Until I saw this thread I had never heard of a 135 top speed for the 3G TL; I swear I saw somewhere the 6MT will hit 155 in both 5th and 6th gears (but cannot find where that was published). Not that it matters for 99% of us because we ain't never gonna get anywhere near a "buck-thirty-five" or even a "buck-fifty" much less over it.

I agree, this is a pretty worthless thread.

There wasn't another more relevant thread (to what I was searching for when I landed here), most of the people are still here on the forum, and I read something I disagreed with and wanted to respond. I'm not doing it for "reps" or whatever - I don't know what you're talking about. I don't get paid for "internet points" do I?

I'm not trying to point out how I'm a douchebag, I'm saying who buys an Acura, then complains that 90 MPH is too fast?

On the other hand: Yeah, I know don't speed through town where kids are playing, and going 135 in traffic is stupid/lame if you're not in Germany... So I'm glad that guy's car is "locked" (speed limited) to 135 :P
