my fiancee actually was encouraging me to do the car. she approved of all the mods and actually bought me dinner while i worked. kinda helps i own my own shop so she knows i won't screw it up... she likes the sound of the exhaust, intake and she likes the semi finished product as much as i do. lucky me i guess. hooray me! hooray beer!

EXACTLY the same!
I hear ya man, after 26 years of marriage I don't even tell her anymore because I get the same exact reaction!! She went with me when I first looked at my TL, I bought it later on and she said I got it because the seats bother her back and that why I got it, because she can't ride in it. I'm like WTF!! I got it because I love the car!! A few pillows and her back will be fine!!!

must be hard to get a hummer from a lady that complains about the interior comfort of our cars, good thing you did'nt buy a smaller car or she would be on your ass about that too...

It's a timeless issue!

Went through the same thing with my wife. She says that she doesn't understand why I bought a new car just to replace parts on it.

Of course she does admit she doesn't mind the stares our car gets either.

In my pre-TL days, my ex used to always bitch about why I needed a fast car and she hated racing and all that crap. When I got an out of town job, I started driving her 4 banger Eclipse to work and let her drive the GN since it was only a mile from the house. I always took the wastegate rod off the turbo which took it from 450hp to ~160hp. We had an appointment one night and she was late getting home from work so I was waiting for her outside. I jumped into the driver seat when she pulled up and drove off. Once I hit the gas I realized the turbo wastegate was hooked up and she was making full boost. After questioning her, she admitted that she had watched me pull the rod off and figured out how to pop it back on and had been doing this the whole time and had even raced some of the ricers that worked with her. She never complained about my racing anymore.

No. I called mmade22 today to ask about his CAI (could it be heard at low rpm and at idle) and to enlist his help for an install.

He SWORE my wife would never notice.

I just thought this thead was timely given the earlier phone conversation.

FWIW - I don't think *his* wife cares one way or the other. Lucky Bastard.

Rookies ...

Dude I got away with the SC and NOS and still in the clear. Though she did hear a slight bit of whine once, formally I had the AEM intake which she new so just said it was that. Sometimes woman being gulable is a good thing and sometimes a bad. Trust me like my buddy told me once very few women have both common sence and book smarts normally just one but not both. That's cool thugh my car had about 20,000 but is 04 so warranty was out, you could always remove CAI and put factory back on if you had major problem, only thing I would worry about is if you have a manual to not mis shift.

Hahaha great story I can relate too, my probation officer doesn't like me to spend too much $$$. I basically try to hide everything but I work evenings and get off at 11pm and that stupid UPS dudes always deliver at 7pm (when I'm not home uuugh). If its left at the front door I grab it quickly and hide it in garage. I install my toys when shes at the mall or wallyworld hehehe.

I let my wife know upfront about all expensive upgrades, in the past 12 years, she has always given me the nod each and every time so no need to duck and cover, happy wife, happy life....trust is the key to a life-long marriage.

haha. Very funny stuff. I remember when I put the full exhaust, deletes yadayada and I started the car in the garage and pulled it out while she was standing outside. She goes "did you do something to your car?".. I was like "no why' She follows up with "cuz it sounds like shit...and it STINKS" So I knew I did a good thing.

I show my girlfriend all my mods-I get excited about them, so I want her to see them. She doesn't give a hard time, but I'm not spending a ton of $$$ on mods though. I think the biggest purchase was $265 for the Carbon Fiber Interior Kit and $200 for the LED interior lighting. She seems to like them.
