help with MODS
got my 06 tl auto w navi and i wanna do some mods but i dont know jack about them. can one of you mod wizards school me? i'm looking to improve my tl handling capilities but i dont want a rough ride. i still want to keep the sport luxury feel. i've read through a few threads and i see folks doing sway bars, springs, coil covers( what is this?), rims and tires. so i was at a car tuning place getting my tint done. i inquired about getting a a new suspension. he advise me to either get teins or eibach spring in which he can do for 475-550 bucks installed, and since i wanted keep my ride being smooth i should to with the teins luxury line(gold springs) which drops the car about 1.5- 1.75. he also stated that sway bars are for extreme cornering and i probable wont see the difference unless i was racing at highspeeds. i also would like a few more ponies. saw people doing the pulleys and cai. what is a pulley and it's purpose? what should a cai and a pulley cost? what should springs run me?

Wow, I dont even know where to start. Maybe you would be better off going to the garage for a day or two and read up, or just search.
Suspension... Well you can just get coils which are new springs that replace your factory springs maintaining the factory struts (shocks). The coil-overs are complete units, struts adn springs. I bought the Tein SS colovers w/EDFC. 1224 shipped, but to me its worth it. With coilovers the main difference is that you can adjust the ride hight whenever you want to with a spanner wrench. I like that feature so I can drop it down real low for a show, bring it back up for a trip, or whatever inbetween. The EDFC allows me to control the dampning level of each coilover from inside of my car. One thing to keep in mind when just replacing the springs (especially moreso with more of a drop) is that you are putting more stress on your struts. That will cause premature failure. I am not saying your struts are going to blow out if you lower your car with springs, just that your shocks are going to be working harder.
The rear sway bar could be changed out for a comptech one if you want to. Basicallyu if you are taking a turn hard and it feels like the back end is starting to kinda roll out you may want to consider this. Getting springs/coilovers will lessen this feeling too.
Power... Well pullies are the wheel looking things that your belt rides on. The most common pulley to change is the crank shaft pulley(the one by the bottom of the engine, pretty large) with either a underdrive pulley or normal size pulley. Underdrive wil get you the most power and the normal size one will get you a good power boost too, they are a LOT lighter than the stock pulley, therefor reducing rotating mass adn allowing the engine to rev up faster and easier.
CAI would be my suggestion of your first power mod. They really make a great diffrerence for the money. Go with the AEM would be my recomendation. AEM CAI should run around 200 shipped, springs alone about the same, and coilovers 900 w/EDFC 1200.

Before I had my TL, I knew almost nothing about mods. Thanks to this site, I have now done almost every HP mod possible (except for the supercharger), and most of these I have done myself.
My advice is to do one mod at a time after thorough research, mostly by spending hours reading through the posts in this sub-forum. I agree that a CAI (cold air intake or cold air induction system) is a good place to start. It is a relatively simple mod, and you can't go wrong with either AEM, Injen, or Fujita. (I like my AEM).
Good luck.

I'm just kidding, but it would help you out a lot to read info in this link:

And then ask specific questions. Feel free to PM me too for specific questions and also if you need some parts.

I have the Tein H-techs (you call them the luxury line) and i love em. Good drop, they handle well and arent too stiff. Its perfect.
The CT swaybar is the best 110 you can spend on the TL by far. It will improve your handling by a lot especially if you have an AT. The stock AT is 17mm and the CT one is 22mm. It's a huge difference.
The UR Underdriven pulley is pretty good and so is a CAI. Good stuff for HP without spending a but load of moolah.
those are the 4 things i would personally rec to you off the bat.
