Help mates!! Cold air intake selection
I need some advise in choosing the right cold air intake. Ive been told the AEM V2 is the best for my 08 TL-S, but also got good notes on the WEAPON-R Dragon intake.
Which one would be best for the 3.5 TL-S??
please help
thank you for your time
Cheers!

any will work. just a metal tube. the filter is the important element. make sure you get a dryflow filter and you're all good.

Stock is the best if you want a noise maker then just get one that at least has a good air filter. Some of the AEM were breaking apart but for some reason they still maintain to be the favorable...

Chris, what are you trying to accomplish with your CAI? To be honest, CAI's are just a little bit of growl for a lot of money.

well here in the chicago area we do get plenty of snow and rain "the windy city" so i also have a 99 Toyota supra as a project car and the chances to get water in the engine are very high. I installed a Bypass valve for both intakes in the supra to help prevent water damage to the engine.

I've had an K&N intake for a while now and since i had my car for so long i really know and feel every change on her. One thing that I never liked on my car is the lack of low end torque. Im not talking about strong pulls from a start, im talking about cruising on the highway or at regular streets at appropriate speed limits. When I want to accelerate the car just feels heavy and unresponsive, almost as if it waits a split second to start accelerating. So lately i've tried experimenting with certain things on the car which drastically improved my performance of the car... one of them was the throttle body spacer which was removed. Also while i removed the throttle body spacer i left the intake in short ram air as they call it, so the filter was much closer to the manifold then when its in CAI configuration. Right away i noticed much better response and the car felt like it didn't have a hard time accelerating in normal driving conditions as the ones that I explained above. So to me the car feels much better in SRI mode and i really like it. Just to make sure it wasn't just the spacer i took out, I completed the intake with the additional pipe into a full CAI configuration... drove around for couple of days and didn't like it. The top end is still there like when i removed the throttle body spacer but the responsiveness was gone, very noticeably too.
So now since everybody says that i will lose power in SRI mode by sucking in hot air, im gonna remove it completely and put the stock air box in. If i get the k&n drop in filter i wont probably restrict any airflow ( even with stock filter should be good but just to make myself happy ill probably get the K&N one ) The only thing i might be missing is the noise from the intake. But i do have the HFC, JPIPE, and Comptech exhaust which will make up for it.
In my opinion then...Stock air box is best for me. I wish the CAI worked for me like it does for others but in my case it does not so well. why i dont know....

After over four years, I still can't refrain from reading these CAI threads. Sometimes I just do it for the deja vu.
It's also like seeing a bad car crash; you know you shouldn't gawk and stare, but it's so damn hard not to.
