Fortunately my wife doesn't drive the car, but she really hates the cabin resonance. Guess I'll keep the FLOWMASTER to install just before that future day if/when I sell the car.

^ true that.
Any vid yet??
also I was wondering how you cut the stock pipe.
Just get a saw and cut it?? is it that simple?
or do i have to worry about the angle, etc?
thx

There are those who want to keep the greddy system intact in case they want to sell it down the road and/or for warranty purposes. I plan on keeping my TL till the wheels fall off so I'm cool with cutting up the exhaust. Plus I'm not original owner, so no factory warranty for me

sorry guys - didn't realize this thread was alive again. I tried putting together some vids of the inside of the car while driving but they came out really crappy so I didn't bother posting them - really need high-tech recording equipment to capture it properly. As for the HP decrease, I do think I lost a little bit of pep by putting the resonator back on, but it makes sense since the resonator has to be doing something to the air to kill the drone - in any case, it's not that big a deal to me and WELL worth it to get rid of the drone. The sound is still GREEEAAT!!
Personally, I would recommend NOT cutting up the GReddy midpipe - it's easy enough to have a local shop (meineke, midas) fab up a quick pipe with the stock res (or AR25 or Magnaflow res)and it shouldn't cost more the $100. You might have problems finding the correct flanges for each end, but I think you'll be OK.
As for cutting the res off, I just used my trusty hacksaw and cut it about 8 inches back from the res.

Why would you not recommend cutting the GReddy pipe?
for selling later or.. decrease in hp perhaps??

For resale purposes, I don't think you should cut the GReddy straight-pipe. It's really cheap enough to get a shop to fab up a pipe for you, (even cheaper if you just use the stock straight-pipe like I did) but if you don't care about resale, then I guess it doesn't matter. It probably doesn't affect HP either way.
