Got quite a few mods-wondering HP gain from them...

So I have a 2006 Acura TL 5AT with the following things done :

AEM Cold Air Intake
ATLP V2 J-Pipe
ATLP Hi-Flow Cat
XLR8 Base Duals (non-resonated)
P2R Throttle Body Spacer + 2 P2R Thermal Gaskets
RV6 Hi-Flow PreCats

Weight Reduction:

Hood Insulation Delete
Weather Stripping (above hood) Delete
Engine Bay Covers Delete
Full Spare Tire Delete
Trunk Lining Delete

So my question is, how much added/freed up HP will I see with the above engine mods? I mentioned the weight reduction things just because. Thanks in advance

I'm not sure what the gains are on the ATLP J-Pipe, but our exhaust is good for 5-8hp on the base. I would add our XLR8 stock diameter pulley for another 5-8!
XLR8 Aluminum Pulleys - Excelerate Performance - Japanese and European Performance Specialists!!

While it's true that unless you go with a Supercharger or forced induction you won't notice any huge gains, each mod on these cars makes a small difference and added up you'll see the car will be more spirited and fun to drive.

Minus the spacer and intake, I assumed each mod outside of the spacer and intake would be 5hp gain a piece, just thinking on the low end of the scenario. That's still a decent gain in my opinion and then I'd assume the spacer and intake would be a combined total of 5hp so 25hp gain all day. That's not bad at all to be honest.

It doesn't work like that, as far as adding up, but you're in the cumulative ballpark at roughly 20-25 whp. Flashpro and the 3.7 mani/TB/ported runners/4" intake really up the results, but unfortunately the pre '08 automatics can't run Flashpro.

Honestly, if you want more gains go with anx advice or PnP your TB, IM, and runners. As for tuning, FP wont work unless you find a way to get the 07-08 ECU to work with your 06. Other option, but not viable, is the MS3.

Auto TLs are around 210whp, so you might be around 230whp, but there's no point of guessing. Best to dyno her.

You probably gain like 10-20, but to be honest we have no idea what your baseline was to begin with. So a dyno would be a proper way to measure gains and area under the curve power difference

whats the MS3?

I will say when I installed the 3.7 mani with bored 3.7 TB, there certainly was a noticeable difference. I tried to do the mods all separately instead of all at once in order to "feel" if there was a diff. When I put j-pipe with non res exhaust there was a better feel to the car but I wouldnt start throwing numbers around saying it gained this or that, only way to know is to dyno the bitch

OP whatever the outcome just enjoy your ride and modify it to your liking. Don't expect too much from the TL platform unless you are seriously power hungry; then boost is your path. GL

No tune? Less than 10hp.

You need a tune if you want bang from any of your buck. With a tune you should break 10hp but it wont be much. All you really did was free up the air flow which honda/acura does a great job at for theor cars relative power.

Youre going to need to run some FI before yoy see what freeing up all that air flow can do. This also needs a tune.

Why do some people still stick to this crazy idea that bolt ons don't make power on these cars? Dozens of people have gained 40-50 whp from standard bolt ons, some tuned, some untuned, on the J30, 32, 35 and 37 and yet some people just continue to bask in their pessimism.

Right on. So if EvilVirus is right about stock being around 210, you gained about 15 hp?

My nerdiness really wants to know what contributed to the biggest gain though.

Congrats!

oo here bro. I found a video to cheer you up. Depending on how the dynopak vs dynojet is calibrated. The dynopak could read lower than normal.

It was 35 degrees and at 65 feet of elevation and the guy probably thought the faux front air vents were real and that they would let in a lot of air.

The only thing left outside of getting tuned with the AEM FIC (my only decent tuning option for this 06 auto), is the J37 intake mani and matching TB along with a 4 inch intake. Should see some big gains then. For the time being ill have just the intake mani and TB adapted to my current AEM 3.25 inch CAI until I get more money to buy a 4 incher.

Doesn't AEM FIC only control in one specific loop mode so it's not working unless you are at full throttle...?

I've never heard that but that's fine by me if it only makes a difference at full throttle. Who races at half throttle anyways :-p

There's the J&R ECU if you can find a used one on the black market. There weren't many made though. Could always do a 6 spd swap and then run a Type-S ECU with Flashpro, but that's pretty drastic. Flashpro is great though.

Yeah there's a few shops around me that I'm going to ask, but is the AEM FIC 100% not worth it or what?
