Full Nose Mask - Ugly or useful?
#2
they work but they are so ugly, an alternative is to get a clear bra instead. its kinda hard to spot the clear bra and is virtually invisible and will do the same thing a nose mask does.

One on the right for me
i have the front mask, use it only on long drives to keep the bugs off and rock chips to a minimum. its a pain to put on and take off but it works.

Two long drives to Tn from fl and I used my bra, it helps. I can put it on in less than two mins...sorry but 600.00 for a clear bra aint happening.

I got a bra as a gift from my son and have used it for almost 3 months, IMHO it was made to fit tight on the car and I have just removed it and will keep it off during the Winter since I wont be washing the car as often, removal takes less than 2 minutes ....and no fade or scratches due to the use... UGLY??...beauty is in the eye of the b...holder..

Anyway I decided against buying one just because I'm too lazy to take care of it properly, I was obviously buying it to protect the paint from scratches etc but from what I read if you don't take it off when it gets wet and let it dry the paint will be screwed up bad, don't know if it's true but I live in Miami and it rains everyday some months so I don't see the point of buying something that will either take too much time to use properly or alternatively ruin the paint when ironically it's there to protect it

A clear bra is one of the best investments you can make. A large rock or debris is going to dent or chip the surface anyways. Leaving a traditional bra on during foul weather is a good recipe for scratches.

Your option here is the clear bra.....expensive but appears to be worth it?

It is a pain to install and the plastic flaps that slide under the light housing scratches the carbon fiber from under neath them. Ever since I saw that I never put it back on. More of a pain in the ass than its worth. I will put up with a few chips rather than deal with that. But if you are still interested I will sell the one I bought.

Another vote for the clearbra here. I once considered the nose mask but gave up on the idea when I found out how much trouble it was. Best $600 I've spent on my car

Any dirt gets in between the bra and it paint the bra acts like sand paper on your finish. You are really supposed to take bras off then it's wet. Bra's are so 80's and will do more damage in the long run than they will prevent.
My vote goes for the clear bra or nothing.

I'm going to give you my reasons for using a bra vs a clear bra .
I have doing detailing for the last four years as a hobbie during the warm months that made me money to buy "toys" and I have seen cars that have come to me with scuff marks from having a regular nose cover and I have been able to buff out these imperfections.
I have never seen a clear cover on any make car even those that are owned by guys that I know could afford them including yours truly and I think is that no matter what you do to protect your car is going to get either dingged, scratched or dented so by just trying to protect its nose from debris from the road is wise but really for $500 I can find some other stuff to spend that money.
I'm anal about having my car flawless when it comes to keeping it clean and scratch free one thing my friends say about me, even when the car is dirty I don't know of any person (even myself) that when looking at another persons car really starts to find or look for any imperfections, we just look at the overall condition of the car and even with a chip or scratch they/ we seem to overlook these flaws and I'm speaking for regular people like us not those guys that have the TL as show car.
I use my TL as a daily driver and that's the way it is.

If you're going to get a full nose mask, pay the extra $$$ and get a Colgan. I have one on both my 02 Maxima (Carbon Fiber) and 05 Murano (Black) and have yet to have any issues with them AND Colgan mask quality > *.

I'm not so sure how well a clear bra will withstand the -45F weather we see here in Alaska (I'ld be betting it would crack up prematurely due to the cold) And in the 'land of bugs and rocks', I opted for an easily removable bra that I could also replace every year if required.
