First mods for my '05 TL 6spd manual

Hey guys I just got a 05 tl six speed with 98k on it. Has the Brembo brakes. The car is in great shape I got it from an old guy who could not drive stick anymore due to knee problems. All mileage is hwy. Anyway just wanted to know what mods I should do that are safe. I have a 04 spec v sentra that has every mod u can think of, I just want to gain some more HP. I was thinking CAI/Test pipe exhaust, springs, rear sway bar, slotted rotors. I just do not want to mess the car up doing all the aftermarket stuff. Not sure how these cars hold up. I had the time n chain replaced already better safe than sorry..

Welcome to AcuraZine.

This thread was about 6-7 threads below yours: https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-performance-parts-modifications-112/looking-first-mod-825999/

The same suggestions apply.

Yeah. Rip out your intake, slap a CAI in... DC is cheap and good. You can go to your local shop and get your mid-muffler and res straight-piped. or whatever you prefer stage 1 - 4... All cheap.

It actually sounds pretty good on mine. You can put a high flow muffler in if you want too instead. For $100 tho, you can't go wrong...

TLs hold up much much better than Sentras. There are no problems to worry about (ie butterfly screws, fuel pump, CD player crapping out, cat failure, clear coat peeling, etc) that you'll find on every Sentra.

I would suggest GM Syncromesh tranny fluid, RV6 V3 j-pipe (or any j-pipe/test pipe combo), pre-cat deletes, and you should be good for first mods. I hear the RSB is a great mod, but I don't have personal experience with that yet.

The 105k service is coming up, so I would plan for that expense now.

The GM fluid is about $35 and makes a nice difference. It's an easy DIY that takes 10-20 mins.

Actually, the clearcoat on these cars sucks. It may not be prone to peeling, but it's ridiculously soft and creates a sandblast effect on the front end.
