Sounds good. Did you notice any gains/torque after installing the HFPC?

Is your atlp resonated or no? Sounds good just a little rasp, im about to install yhe same setup soon unresonated and thinking i might need to add a resonator. Any suggestions on which to go with?

same here i tink his base exhause is non resonated because you hear the rasp but it actually sounds good and this was the setup up I was going for. I was looking for more of an exotic sound I think I would like to hear a setup with the resonated version if not then I might switch to either the true dual exhaust instead of the atlp base since im looking for that exotic sound.I feel that the resonated version might give this setup that exotic sound im looking for but yours almost close to a m3

I have the unresonated version but welded 2.5 Aero resonator. If you dont have a resonator it will rasp with this setup, If you dont want any rasp at all probably go with the 18in or 22in Magnaflow resonator.

@04TL4P3: Will you post up a sound clip/vid?

This is not good news; I thought the HFPCs did not have a rasp problem at all. I guess the only cure is to install a HFC or an additional resonator after the jpipe...damn. I was going to purchase those HFPCs.

mid muffler delete is your problem. just weld in an 18-22" resonator and you'll be fine. it's a night and day difference.

Is your car manual or auto.
I just ordered a pair of HFPC and have the same set up as you do. I am imterested in the gain.

Aaron do you mean replacing the OEM resonator with a magnaflow resonator.
I tough the OEM resonator will help with rasp since I already have muffle delete.
Thanks for your feedback

Aaron (Sharky) beat me to it....

Mid muffler is your problem....also the sound does seem to "tone down" after carbon deposit....just FYI

^what Anil (swoosh) said.

you're gonna want to keep your mid muffler on (square muffler) and take out the stock resonator and replace with something larger to muffle the sound.

I can't decide if I want to go PCDs & HFC after the jpipe or HFPCs and jpipe (no 3rd cat). I know these J series motors suffer from heat soak which pulls timing and decreases power. I don't want any rasp and I want to run some kind of cat for emissions and odor purposes...

Option 1:
HFPCs (ceramic coated) -$555
Jpipe (no 3rd cat) -$409
stock CBE
~$964

Pros: solid gains, no rasp
Cons: risk of heatsoak from keeping cats inside engine bay

Option 2:
PCDs (ceramic coated) -$355
Jpipe (no 3rd cat) -$409
metal catalyst HFC (welded in after Jpipe) ~$100(???)
stock CBE (after HFC)
~$864(???)

Pros: most power, reduced engine bay heat
Cons: possible rasp, slower warmup in winter, added expense from welding in HFC

Any suggestions?

Does not sound bad I though it was going to be worse. I just got wait to install and see.
If is not to much to ask can you do a cabin video while driving at normal speed.
Thanks

FYI Vibrant resonator on atlp + v3 jpipe = silence.
I've rode around for a while with that setup and wasn't a big fan of it.

Dammit lol i dont want silence either! Vibrant also has a straight through version maybe ill try that one? I read somewhere that the magnaflows dont last very long?
Ill make a cabin vid today and post it up later but i doubt u will hear any rasp

The difference in power is like 3-5 horses between the 2....what you might wanna think is whats allowed in your state....

If you live in Cali then forget PCD's or any other state that does a sniff test and a visual inspection.....

If you state does only a safety and OBDII port check (plug the computer in for codes) then get the PCD's and call it a day....

and why are you welding on a 3rd cat ?

I don't have any emissions testing, but I don't want to be a jerk to the enviroment or have the catless smell (it's my daily driver).

^^^ in that case keep the HFC's and dont worry about the 3rd cat, it does nothing

HFC --> Jpipe (which deletes the 3rd cat) --> Catback Exhaust

+1 and if you're worried about heat soak try to get an outer ceramic coating on the HFPCs; it should keep a lot of heat in the pipes and keep engine bay temps down.

Thank you for being environmental friendly! I myself am getting HFPCs and retaining my 3rd cat (it has a low cell count compared to other cats, but at least it HAS cells in there! Plus the gains from deleting the 3rd cat is very minimal. 1hp and maybe a very very slight increase in mpg iirc.

ahhh you're right I hear ze rasp!
what is your setup anyway?
HFPC->V3 J pipe->dynomax resonator and mid miffler delete?

do you have rasp only when revving, or do you still have it under load (driving) as well?
