Exhaust topic

again....

ok i have a 2004 base tl with type s aspec kit, so have been searching but cant seem to figure out everything i need. I have waited a month now and want to do my whole exhaust what i want to know is what do i need if i am right i think i need to purchase 3 things really dont know though. what i know i need to get is a j pipe, i think catback and want type-s quad exhaust tips what else do i need?

what does it mean when an exhaust is resonated and non-resonated? what would i need to loose the rasp sound?

Been looking at that new rv6 v2 dual exhaust really like the whole black chrome tips and been looking at atlp but cant decide really mainly cause i don't know much about exhaust setups. what i want exhaust for mostly is for better sound but still have the most hp/torque gain.

I know that there isn't one exhaust thats best and that its all about preference but which is considered to be better then the rest? i am not on a budget so let me know whats best that money can buy.

there are many options that you can go with
there are 3 or 4 vendors here on az that you can purchase from with great customer service

http://store.excelerateperformance.c...e/b-10668.aspx
http://rv6-performance.com/
http://www.heeltoeauto.com/

there are 3 main components.
the precats
the j pipe
and the cat back

a lot of people go with a full rv6 set up rv6 v3 pcds/rv6 jpipes/ rv6 true duals

then some people go rv6(only vendor that has aftermarket precats) pcds or hfpc/ then either atlp or xlr8 or rv6 jpipe then either custom exhaust. or you have atlp/rv6/xlr8

many options many videos throughout the performance section of az. search

an exhaust that is resonated means http://www.audioenglish.net/dictionary/resonate.htm
it will make the tone lower and the exhaust a little quieter. a lot of people who have v3 pcds notice rasp like me and will be putting back on a resonator to calm the rasp down.

cant go wrong with rv6

true duals is the quad exhaust tips that type s has?

ok id probably wanna do something like how you have set up full rv6 really like sound of it and seems to be like what im looking for. ok so let me get this right i get rv6 precat/rv6 jpipe and rv6 exhaust tips.

would you get rv6 true duals or is the magneflow exhaust just as good?

ok and just saw i would need magneflow resonator to loose the rasp sound

so this is what i am thinking
the new rv6 v2 true dual exhaust when i can get it illl buy it im pretty sure i read right and its only the catback so ill need precat, jpipe and resonator still. am i right? everything but resonator will be rv6 resonator will be magneflow.

is this right or am i missing something

you are correct. if you have the money to blow all at one time do it. if not i would start with pcds awesome gains/ awesome price. then the jpipe then catback. or whatever you prefer. yes you need a resonator to kill the rasp from the pcds thats what im doing. i started the tl diet and i cant STAND the rasp anymore so yeah.

HFPCs have cats and PCDs are catless.
Hence the reason they are called High Flow Pre Cats.

^^ With the HFPC you still have cats.
So you would have no smell or the fear of failing emissions like you do when you go catless.
PCDs will give you a few extra ponies but nothing crazy over the HFPC.

^^ Yes like I said with HFPC there is no smell, cause when you have no cats you get a nasty smell.
HFPCs arent completely legal but more so than having no cats at all.

With hfpc does the sound of exhaust change much is it noticeable? will i still need resonator with hfpc or will it have no rasp at all? By little less hp around how much less is it then pcds?

With the HFPC you will get a deeper sound with no rasp.
So there is no need for a resonator.
If guessing you will get 5 more whp with the PCDs.
