Question exhaust question! cant find answer

Which would yield more power gains on a TL-s....

J-pipe (XLR8) with cat-back exhaust (XLR8)

OR

Pre cat deletes (RV6) with J-pipe (XLR8)

Dont want to do precats, j-pipe, and catback together because i want to keep some back pressure. Also which one of these options would be louder? Any input would be great.

Pre-cats and Jpipe. Pre-Cat Deletes will add 25-30 WHP mid-to-high end(but you won't pass emissions, basically like "headers"), Jpipe will add 8-13WHP low end.

So you're looking at 35-40 WHP gained. Probably the 1-2 punch that adds to most HP to our cars besides Turbo or S/C.

Thanks for your input! How do you think the sound would be with with the precats and j-pipe compared to the j-pipe and catback? Also is it worth doing the precats and j-pipe without catback or do you need the catback to unlock all potential of the other two mods?

To unlock the full potential of the exhaust system, you have to do all of it. Catback, Pre-Cat delete, 3rd cat delete, J-pipe. Pre-Cats + Jpipe will have a small noticeable difference, but nothing like the catback. You don't need the catback now, it would be better though. See how you like those two, and than continue.

Best MODs for the money: (in order of the best to last)

Pre-Cat Delete
J-pipe
UR Pulley
Catback
3rd cat

Soo the precats and the j-pipe will give me the most power and be much cheaper than the catback and j-pipe, but the catback will give me that sexy exhaust note. Hmmm decisions decisions...

Oh and thechamp531 i saw on another thread that you were turbocharging your car
how that going? its a custom job i assume?

go on ebay I was looking at a tsudo stainless catback for 400 shipped. Some say the welds come apart after a year but they are guaranteed for life so I am not sure. J pipe is a must and pre cats are a pain and you will not pass emissions, also if you have a white car your bumper will turn black. I have j pipe,3rd cat removed and catback and I have nice gains. You definatly dont see 40whp with pre cats and j pipe. I would say 20 max, but catback only adds 5whp if that.

nah if i'm gunna get cat-back i'm going either XLR8 or ATLP. and fortunately i don't have to worry about passing emissions so thats not a factor for me. the black your talking about, thats just like dirt right, it'll come off with a wash? i have a KBP wanna start adding performance mods, my torque steer isnt bad enough lol

Also im really confused about the pre-cat situation. Do i need the innovative motor mounts installed in order to prevent the pre-cats from cracking or something?
