Exhaust noise on cold start

I posted a question a few months ago and received a lot of good help. I have the RV6 pre cat deletes but the rest of the exhaust is factory. I had some exhaust noise problems but was able to solve most of it by installing the gasket kit from RV6. Except now I still have a noise on cold start and only for a minute. Only when the engine is stone cold and only for 45 seconds to a minute. I was wandering if anybody has heard of this and also could the egr system be to blame??

I wouldn't think so... u didn't hear the noise before the pre cats, or did u? Most likely u didn't or it was so quiet u barely heard it..... I read in another post that our cars misfire in purpose when they are cold in order to get the engine up to temperature faster... I do know what u r talking about because I have the exact same symptoms after installing the PCDs... but i bet mines is louder since I have a jpipe n a greddy evo2 catback .... it makes sence that u would get some kind of noise when the cylinders are misfiring and going directly into a straight pipe (PCDs in this case)...

Yeah I have heard of the miss firing, it does it to prolly to help warm the cats also during cold start.I unplugged the egr valve to see if it would change the noise and it did not, but I did not hear the noise before installing the PCD's. It sounds horrible!! Like I have an exhaust leak on a crapy car!! BTW how does the greddy cat back sound, cause I'm thinking of buying exhaust but havent made up my mind which one??

I've explained it in some other thread. It's not EGR, EGR is not used when the engine is first started. It's part of the engine management system and the quick catalyst light off strategy along with the thinner walls of the PCDs. Assuming you don't have a leak, there's nothing you can do about it.

you should have known about the noise when going into PCD's.
and then you're asking about the greddy evo!?!?!?

if you're complaining now, wait till you get that evo on. hahaha.

My car does the same thing and like said it goes away after ~45 seconds. I replaced all my gakets thinking it was a leak and then read around on here and found the same answer from IHC.

Well Im assuming they are V2 may be V1. I kinda got them third hand really cheap from somebody that was parting out a car. So I just jumped in thats why I dont know much about them. But the power isnt real noticeable, maybe more responsive. I think once you add the jpipe and the cat back it would be more noticeable??

Header wrap might reduce the sound a little but you have to be careful it doesn't trap too much heat. Not sure what type of stainless they're made of.

IHC, i was going to wrap mine but from all i read about the cracking of the V1&V2 i didnt, i figured it would make them fail faster.
