Exhaust mods? CAI? Stage 3 w/ Test Pipe?

It's coming down to the wire and I'm trying to decide the mods I wanna do to my 05 TL (Automatic, Base). Hoping you all can help answer my questions as this is the first time I'm actually doing mods to my car.

1) Go with a CAI (AEM V2) or spend the money on exhaust mods?
2) Make sense to do a high flow cat (XLR8) and test pipe (XLR8) without doing the j-pipe?
3) How does a stage 3 exhaust sound with a high flow cat and test pipe? Don't want anything ricer-sounding, want more of a g35 sounding exhaust.

Its either one or another, Test pipe, or High Flow Cat.

Forget about the stage 1/2/3/4 exhaust. Get the XLR8 J-pipe instead, than the RV6 test pipe. No to the AEM V2 CAI if you don't have enough for the J-pipe, if not, get the UR racing pulley via XLR8.

The CAI can wait. You could just remove the stock resonator for the intake for now. I would go with a Jpipe. I got the RV6 and am satisfied. Next you could replace the resonator and delete the muffler/silencer just behind it. This is my plan. I am almost there.

I'm planning to do the mid muffler delete and replace the factory resonator with a dynomax resonator. If I put the xlr8 j-pipe in should I also put in a test pipe? How would the exhaust sound?

Alot of people on here have said that using the test pipe with the j-pipe will reduce torque. I don't think using a test pipe with the j-pipe will change the exhaust note though. My j-pipe alone did not. Removing the mid muff and replacing the resonator does give a nice deep tone from what I read.

Still using the stock 3rd cat. J-pipe came with a test pipe but have read that is reduces torque so I haven't installed it yet. Wanted to see how the j-pipe felt first. I like it alot.

Did you get significant power gains from the j pipe install!? and does the aftermarket j pipe bolt right up to the stock 3rd cat!?

I have an 04 TL, completely stock except the mid-muffler delete.
I want to add HP and sound without spending too much so I'm strongly considering a J-pipe (RV6 V3).

Would you recommend doing anything else other than adding the jpipe? (i.e., is it worth it for HFPCs, testpipe/hfcat, 3rd cat delete?)

I just recently installed the RV6 V3 jpipe. The V3 will actually replace your 3rd cat (secondary cat). Previous versions of jpipes did not replace the third cat.

HFPC are too expensive in my opinion. Much better to go with PCDs unless you are unable to due to visual inspection or emissions testing.
