Excelerate Performance: XLR8 Clutch Systems Now Available!!!

Excelerate Performance is excited to release our XLR8 Clutch Systems!! Whether you have a Base TL or a Type S, we have a kit for you.

To view the options, simply follow the link below and enter your vehicle information.
XLR8 Clutch System - Excelerate Performance - Japanese and European Performance Specialists!!

The systems are available in the following versions:

Daily

This clutch kit was engineered for those with bolt on modifications. This kit includes a heavy duty pressure plate, which has an increased clamp load with little or no increase in pedal pressure. The organic disc material has a high metal content that increases the co-efficient of friction by two times over a stock lining and increases rotational strength up to a 12,000 RPM burst point. Overall, this clutch system maintains a stock feel while offering strength and durability. The recommended usage is for a vehicle that is driven daily, for street performance or even a moderate race application. Torque capacity will be roughly 340 ft/lbs.

Street/Strip

This clutch kit was engineered for the street/strip climate. The pressure plate is precision balanced for vibration free operation at high RPMs.The friction material is a kevlar design. The recommended usage is for a vehicle that is driven daily, for street performance or even those used for rally or endurance racing. Torque capacity will be roughly 425 ft/lbs.

Drag

This clutch kit was engineered to handle heavily modified cars and designed to function according to the specific needs of the drag strip/track. Discs are a segmented puck design (6 puck setups available), which reduces rotational mass and are assembled with all high carbon component pieces for maximum strength. The friction material used is graphite-impregnated ceramic, which is perfectly suited for drag racing because of its maximum friction co-efficient, rapid heat dissipation, and abrupt engagement characteristics. The recommended usage is for a vehicle that is used for drag racing or drifting. Torque capacity will be roughly 500 ft/lbs.

Flywheel

The XLR8 flywheels are made by AASCO Motorsports. AASCO has been manufacturing flywheels for over 20 years. Their unique ability to manufacture thousands of the highest quality OEM replacement light-weight flywheels as well as several hundred custom variations differentiates them from the competition. AASCO maintains a high level of quality control.

Each kit includes a pressure plate, disc, flywheel and release bearing. Pilot bearing not included. Each kit and flywheel will be supported by the manufacturer’s warranty.

If you're in search of a oem replacement clutch kit, the daily is the way to go!

Looking for something a little more performance oriented? The Street system will meet your needs! It has a higher torque capacity and slightly stiffer feel.

Need something for the track? The Drag system can hold up to 500 ft/lbs of torque!! It is also available in a 6 puck design for less rotating mass!

Are these flywheels SFI certified? I didn't see AASCO on the list of SFI certified manufactures for clutches and flywheels. I ask because I recently purchased a flywheel for my GSR and it was SFI certified.

In the market for a new clutch/flywheel combo for my TL.

AASCO is not on the SFI list. Only 24 companies made it to that list. They are a small independent organization so there are many that are not included. This doesn't mean that the flywheels are not very high quality. AASCO implements strict quality control and uses high quality materials for their products. You can read more about them on their website:

Wont get too into it, but its in regards to clutch masters oem honda "beefed up" pressure plate, that had the diaphragm fail, and after they asked me to send it to them for fixing, they billed me. And upon receiving a week late, they did not replace the diaphragm and only resurfaced the friction surface. Put the clutch back in and still having the same problems. Clutch isn't engaging correctly (unevenly) getting chatter on a "stage 1 organic disk", and the pedal becomes very inconsistent (soft top, hard bottom, etc) whenever the car is revved over 5500. They wanted me to send me the clutch back for a refund of the work the performed... and did nothing about the original purchase. Didn't back their products and stopped responding to me all together. Clutch lasted 5k of standard daily driving.

I am guessing you are talking about the FX250? I wasn't impressed with the idea of a hybrid clutch disc with different materials on each side of the clutch disc. Sorry to hear you had these issues.

I suppose I should've but XLR8 in my Thread title but here's my XLR8 DD clutch and AASCO Flywheel install on my TL, I am over 10,000 miles into use of the DD clutch disc.

Yea I believe whichever has the lower coefficient of friction will be the one to engage last, but i believe one surpasses the other when it heats up, which would then make sense.

Regardless, parts came in, they look nice, need to plan a weekend to get this in. Will keep you guys updated.

Sorry for the delay, loss in the family. should be getting to this next weekend.... my current clutch is pulsating on engagement.... its different than chattering... you can feel the parts engaging as the clutch spins.

Ill show you pictures soon enough.

Regards!

Well, ITS IN

So not much of a review yet, ill create another thread when the clutch is broken in and ill have the pictures there... but I can now say the Clutch has been installed.

First impressions, are obviously going to be super positive condering i was finally able to get the defective x2 clutch masters clutch out.

the pedal is actually pretty soft, it feels and engages like a stock clutch. I obviously have not done anything testing yet as the car has about 40 miles on it since the install.

When the clutch is broken in i will update everyone if my problem has gone away (most likely), and how well the clutch holds when tested.

Till then, regards.
