I am just not a big fan of "solutions in a can"...lol. JMO though. That product has been around for a LONG time though...cant deny that. I just dont like mucking up my coolant with contaminants. I ususally want to just fix the bad part by replacing it with a new one. Like I said though....Bars has been around for a long time.

can you describe the sound of your system both when you start it up and after it's warmed up? are they super loud? bad cabin drone? airy farty chuggy noises?

I have a resonator and mine is loud lol... but a good loud... from the exhaust you can hear a nice deep airy sound... and a nice deep gurgle when you let off the gas, I have some slight rasp way up top in the rpms... might look into another resonator if I get pulled over for noise pollution lol

i bet Stillhere has, but if at all possible, I would recommend renting a lift. The drop, install and alignment of the pipes from the cats back would be tuff on your back.

yea on jackstands I don't even want to know how you got the rear out... on a lift you have to lower the car and raise a couple times because you can't just do everything at once

I was actually able to remove the rear cat from bellow last time... don't ask me how I managed that, I was shocked

Ok, cool I have a friend helping me so I figure one of us could be underneath and one one could be on top. That just sounded wrong, but you get the idea...

Rear Cat...raise the lift, lower the lift, raise the lift, lower the lift...like cats watching tennis on tv.

its doable on stands but I had a schedule. The lift allowed me to keep it. It costs me a whopping $24 for 7 hours.

Does anyone know of a place to rent a lift here on Long Island? I feel like that would be so much more convenient than putting the car up on jack stands.

I recommend printing this DIY out and getting a trusted second set of hands.
Good luck! Are you working in a garage? You definitely won't want to be doing this after sunset.

^dude, I'm trying to burn off those ECU relearn miles but the trip today I had my wife and baby boy...gawd the restraint from burying the pedal! I got a little frustrated during a long line at the gate to my neighborhood and stomped it to go around the douche's and HOLY SHITE! Half pedal stab and she was chirpin' and squeelin'! It's tha bomb.

I'm one of those 0-60 mph magazine readers. I really want to know if I knocked a big chunk of the 6 + second 60 mph trap. Sub 6 seconds to 60 would really butter my muffin...so to speak.

Are the defoulers just the spacers that came on the bungs for the O2 sensors??

Second that if you get the chance on your next install. If you could cover each bullet in your DIY with a visual, you'd probably have less people hiring you to install theirs. There were a few times when I would have liked a picture to go along with the step.

Well I put them in today on jackstands in 3 hours. I got the rear cat out without taking the heatshields off the cat. I just jacked up the back of the engine a but from the rear trans mount. Some of those O2 sensor clips were a real pain in the a$$.

^good show! nice work on jacking up the engine. I wasted about 20 minutes dicking with the heat shield on the rear cat and trying to pry it out the bottom...dum.

car is f-ing sick. now I want a damn catback...

Great thread. Is there any way someone can take a speedo vid? Preferably a 6MT, but it doesn't matter. Yea, it may be hard to tell but speedo vids are worthwhile IMO

Omg. The front cat is so easy. I was like wow, this isn't as hard as I thought. Went to the rear and *$%&!!!!!!!! I can't get the darn thing out. Atleast by myself. I'm gonna try again tomorrow with a partner and see if that works. Any advice on the rear cat and how to get it out?
