^^You have the same exact issue i have (It sounds amazing from the outside but I would like to kill the Drone a bit still!). BUT trust me a resonator will change your exhaust note which you already said you like (already tried it and took it off).
I wonder if there is some high temp sound deadening material that could be put on the top side of the muffler. The exhaust note does not have any hint of the drone sound so i think the drone comes from reverberations on the exterior of the muffler can and i think it gets amplified between the top of the muffler can and the bottom of the car. I've been dying to try this but been too busy to find the material and attach it.
I think it makes sense and I have a good feeling that it would work.

I have to say it sounded the best at Stock with the DynoMax Resonator! The Exhaust tone was very nice and it was dead silent in the cab! If you wanted to test this sound deading idea I think you should be able to shove a few heavy towels or blankets above the mufflers (when its cold of course!!) and go for a quick drive around the block...this would test your theory!

After some deliberation, I finally purchased the XLR8 high flow cat. With the installation of that, I also took off the j-pipe and reinstalled with the proper gaskets. HUGE DIFFERENCE!!! The loud "crack" at about 3k rpm is almost inaudible and the drone doesn't seem to be half of what it was. I checked and retightened all of the other seams where there was a tiny bit of carbon build up, so I should be leak free. I am very happy with my set up now (XLR8 j-pipe, HFC, magnaflow resonator, XLR8 quad cat-back). Hope everyone else who contributed to this thread has found a good solution as I finally have.

^ the new purge technology makes a world of difference i experienced the old version way too much drone for my liking... the new version man it is as quiet in cabin as it was prior with my stock exhaust you only hear it when you get on it great new design and sound

Anyone have the Vibrant Ultra Quiet on a base 6MT with Excelerate resonated exhaust, ATLP J and race pipe setup? The drone isn't too bad on the 3.2, but it gets a little annoying from time to time. I'd like to tone it down a notch, especially since I plan on getting the RV6 high flow primary cats when they're available.

Ok, just read the whole thread. Would you guys go with the Hushpower or Vibrant on a CompTech exhaust. I know............it's already quiet, but I want it quieter. It came on the car.
Thanks

Update. Got the Flowmaster Hushpower installed. It made the sound milder to a point where I can live with it. Still has the sound of aftermarket, but mellowed out.

pizza, i've heard that the oval mufflers (square shape) have more packing material and will reduce drone more than the straight thru round resonators. just make sure you have enough width room under your car for one of these. take some measurments.

The Hushpower is not exactly a straight through. Check the website for internals. It will help a little, but don't think it would achieve 100% of what you want.

The Magnaflow straight through mufflers work really well. Yes, the oval mufflers have more packing than the round ones. I have a 6in round 30in body Magnaflow and it still drones; not that much, but noticeable at times. I want it quieter in the car so I may just do a 5X11X22 straight through muffler, which I was told has a good deal more packing than the round 6X6X30.
To be honest I'd love to run no mufflers at the rear, just 2 large Magnaflow straight through's under the car. Then just have 12ish" long tips welded. That should eliminate all drone in the car and still have a nice tone outside.
