These should help answer your question...

i didnt feel like spending 300 on a intake so i got a k&n con filter and took out the air box and stock air filter and slid the cone filter on the plastic air hose and used a hose clamp and it works amazing. great sound

Has anyone seen this thread? This seems like a good idea for a SRI/CAI combined.

IMO. Also, I had the mid-muffler removed last week and combined with this modification, this is definitely what I was looking for in an exhaust. The note is perfect.

how do you remove the silencer for the intake? I already have the SRI....what are the pros and cons to doing this?

If you still have the stock intake, removing the silencer makes it louder. Since you have the SRI, this does not apply.

really? shitty,lol...i could have sworn their is a way to do that on the SRI intake...by the way I just had it installed Friday. Regardless of the talks between SRI and CAI on the TL, I emailed K&N. They claims 6.8 Horsepower on both units. The way the TL is set up, is that their is 2 rensonator tubes, 1 near the rad, and one right by the sri intake, thus enabling the air to be suck from the bottom of the car similar to a CAI. The CAI sucks in a smilar amount of HOT AIR as well due to the fact the the roads in the summer time is very hot as well. I wanted the intake to improve the slow accelartion from 1000-3500 RPMS...with the K&N SRI this improved it significantly, as well as making the car slightly faster. So those of you that don't beleive in SRI intakes, they do work very well as simiar to CAI, on the tl atleased!

The other con for SRI in a climate such as canada, is the filtre when splashed from a puddle, slush or snow, will freeze with the temperature in below 0, something to keep in mind.

Really? How much more hp did it make on the dyno or how much faster did it run in the quarter?

You realize, it doesn't make a bit of difference at full airflow which is at redline. Do you really think it's possible to make a difference at 1,000rpms? If you knew anything about airflow and how engines work, you would know just how rediculous this sounds.

ok sorry im not a mechanic....all I know is it made the acceleration from 1000 to 4000 rpms quicker than it was, as it was very sluggish in those area's.

Does anyone run a throttle spacer on their car? I have heard mixed reviews saying this mod does nothing, and some say it is worth it...let me know!
