So what's the plan after selling the car? Don't remember wether or not you mentioned the details on this but I'd like to know if you're just "growing up" or if you have plans elsewhere with another car.

Why does it have to be "growing up" when selling? I moved on to a 335i and am waiting on my 19T hybrids. 600+ whp here we come. :-)

hah true. I think one day I will buy the car back just because I know it will be in california in safe hands. I just didn't want to deal with putting it back to stock, smogging, and then putting a new motor in since cylinder 5 is slowly dying

Z28, this is precisely why I added the quotations when I stated that. It just becomes the term that most seem to use when selling their toys. I'd like to say I probably never grow up as I will always have a toy to play with.

I will, however, admit my interests have somewhat veered in another direction which is why you guys haven't seen much of me lately. About a year ago, someone gave me a 80k mile LS 5.3 engine and that began a completely new course of action for me. I've got everything I need for the build now except the rwd platform which I've been searching for for weeks now. You guys need to search "Sloppy Mechanics" on youtube and watch some of this guy's stuff. The videos will definitely make some ask why you're still messing with motors that have no market and cost so much to build. The LS is where it's at. I, unfortunately, waited WAY too long before realizing that.

Definitely agree that LS motor and other options are much better to build than the J series. Just dropping an intake in a LS or boosted motor makes like 20-30whp crazy gains for price.

For now I am just looking for a daily cruiser.

Project car is on the back burner due to the high upkeep.

Haha, I'm well familiar with Matt and Sloppy Mechanics. He does some very impressive things. As much as I like Hondas and the J motor, FWD and the lack of support do get tiring. One day I will own another 3G TL and do a full LS/RWD conversion (I still think it is one of, if not the best looking sedans ever made). I nearly went the LS route myself and bought a CTS-V V1, but I decided to go OEM FI and got the 335. The BMW is like a giant computer, and as much of a hassle that the stock DME can be, it's very robust and the motors can take a LOT of power. It helps that the cars have hit their depreciation cliff and are dirt cheap now.

What are you looking for to put your LS in? I've done the FC and FD RX-7, and while there's no denying they can be fast, they are just too small for me. S13 or S14 is also an option, but every teenager thinks his stock S13 is a drift car and wants a ton for a beat to hell one. Have you thought about doing a BMW? There are kits now for everything from E36s, E46s, E39s, and E90s. If you want more room, you can get an E39 528 dirt cheap. A fixed up 528 with a turbo 5.3 would be pretty awesome. Not as awesome as the mint E39 M5 that was at our local cars and coffee - he did his own rear mount S300 Borg Warner. Dude built the whole thing himself and the fabrication was immaculate. Even had a piece of tempered glass in the trunk so you could see the turbo. I should've grabbed more pics of the whole car, but it looked stock unless you popped the trunk!

I am now torn between two cars at the moment. Initially, I was intrigued at the idea of a big power LS into something like an E46 coupe. I've always enjoyed driving them when customer bring them up to the shop. They're solid, agile, and have a great feel to them for a RWD platform. Not much, except maybe the IS's, can come close to those things. I've been reading a lot on those who have done the swaps already because of my concern about the swap disrupting their delicate balance...which obviously has much to do with the comments above. I drove an E36 once a few years back and was hands down the best feeling car I've ever drove, period. BMW has their shit together and you can easily have a sub-3000lb car making 600whp+ and can damn near be unbeatable to most cars on the road.

However, I've been turmoiled here lately by the introduction of another car that's been strangely placed in my direct path of all this shit. Had a buddy, of a buddy, of a buddy, get ahold of me a few days back saying how he had heard I was looking for a RWD platform for this swap and offered me his 04 M45. Admittedly, I had to Google an image of this ride but once I realized what it was, it immediately caught my attention. To anyone unaware, the M45 is basically the smaller cousin to the Q45 but with the same power plant. They are a "big body" car and though it does weigh 3800lbs+, it could maybe be stripped down another 300-500lbs by removing all the BS electronics on the inside and all the other luxury car fluff that I care nothing about. Never drove one of these but man, they are gorgeous cars. I'm going to see it in person this weekend so I'll know more about how i feel towards it afterwards.

In the meantime, I'm still moving forward on the Accord and will FINALLY be assembling the engine (or at least beginning the assembly) this weekend. This will be the first time I've ever had a forged component inside of a j-series and kind of excited to throw some respectable power at the motor.

Sorry for clogging up your page Ken. It just seems to be the only active part of Acurazine any more. Lol.
