Damn fic-6 making no power at dyno

so my car is at the dyno right now, after about 10 pulls, logging, and tuning the fic the best number was 319whp! wtf!!!!

last summer I made 318whp with an 87* weather, at the time i had PCDs, j-pipe, greddy catback, n CAI and i was only at 3.5psi with the ACM.

today, i have rdx injectors, HBP, AEM methanol kit, and the FIC-6. I should be making at least 350whp.

im so pissed off!

part of the fun of tuning is figuring out WTF is going on that's causing these issues.

Don't expect perfect tune to come right away IMO.

The first problem is the supercharger is undersized so you don't get huge gains from the HBP. Are you able to monitor the AF ratio and knock? Are you running meth/water or straight meth? If it's a mix, I would back off the meth and see of power comes up. It's hard to screw up straight meth but the mix can easily cost you power if you inject too much.

I have PCDs, j-pipe,Cat-back RDX 410cc's, CAI and FIC and I made 286whp on a Dynodynamics Dyno. My car is 5AT though.

365whp/305tq seems a bit high.

Especially if it's on a Dynojet. That's what's called a temporary tune.

So, what was holding you back?

If you're making a true 365 whp, you should be able to trap ~111 mph as long as it's around 60 degrees and dry.

I'm hoping so!!!! My tires aren't too good but its gonna be around 60*F tomorrow so hopefully I can lunch it easy enough to get some traction n trap 105+

Did you run it with your previous set up? A 6MT should only need ~300 whp to hit 105 mph. Won't matter if you burn the tires off with no traction. Once you do hook, the trap speed will be there.

doubtful! you come on posting how pissed you are that your new mods have shown a single HP improvement over your previous setup, then magically come back with great improvements but absolutely no explanation on how that occurred so that possibly other people with the same mods can benefit from your experience.

what I take away is that you really dont know what occured and the tuners with the dyno made it happen and you just pay money to people to make things happen rather than understanding what was accomplished

Cant wait for the next update..............I am so pissed my car trapped 95MPH WTF? next post! got it up to 117!

for those using the FIC u are familiar with this issue. every couple driving cycles the ecu likes to try to override the fic making it run like shit. of course i couldnt think straight looking at the numbers and i forgot about it since i wasnt there to begin with.

i wish i had them. my buddy took my car to get it tuned. i couldnt leave work and i would had to wait another 3 weeks to get it tuned. the shop is 2hrs away and i work two jobs so i had no time to get there. im gonna try to dyno it locally now that it is tuned and get the graphs. max boost recorded was 4.8lbs almost at redline.

Sounds about right. The S/C + HBP really doesn't put out a whole hell of a lot of boost when you have a free-flowing exhaust. When I was running mine, I had PCDs with a resonated test pipe combined with stock exhaust and I was only able to put out around 4 p.s.i.

I'd be curious to see your boost graph. As soon as VTEC hit, my boost would always take a nose-dive. I never bothered to troubleshoot it anymore to see if my belt was slipping or if it was just a characteristic of the engine + S/C.

stock crank pulley. i was pissed when i got the HBP and it actually went up to 5.5lbs. I called Comptech bitching about it but they said they never tested the HBP in-house. So that 5.5 to 6psi was about right for my SC. They directed me to a company that can make a custom pulley for me but they are expensive. and FUCK!!!! thank u guys for reminding me i was seeing 5.5psi when i first installed the HBP. Im gonna change the damn belt this weekend. It has to be slipping since i lost almost a pound of boost!!!

i asked my friend about the graph, he said it was pretty straight, no "nose-dive" at all at any point. he said the tuner was really taking his time with it. took him almost 6hrs to get it done.

Though it's not really AEM's fault. It's a combination of nobody sharing anything about the cars and AEM providing no support (which, really, is just what they're going to do. they can't support every car). That's the reason I'm starting a site with all of this info detailed for everyone to see it.

P.S. I didn't mean my previous comment to come across as asshole-ish to anyone except for CT, so please don't take it that way.
