Coolant line and AIT mods?

When I had my Z28, we always did away with the throttle body coolant lines and reloacted the AIT (air intake temp) sensor closer to the airbox to get more accurate air temp readings. I am in Texas, so the TB collant lines are not really needed. Has anyone done these mods or can they be done?

I saw a thread on here, basically you just make a loop with the in and out going to the TB, you can see the lines right under the, I just haven't messed with mine yet but it looks simple.
