Comptech SuperCharger Install... Something special here.
Here's a Teaser:
Note the polished manifold and polished Super Charger. I HAVE to give it up to our very own Royce Han... He gets all the props for that polish work. It's unbelieveable how good it looks. This was all self installed. It was about a 15 hour ordeal, having an extra set of hands woudl have cut the time in 1/2. I swear I spent more time looking for the ratchet I put down 3 minutes earlier, than I did actually turning it.
Install notes... Flawless. The Comptech directions are so step by step, anyone could do it. The hardest part was the damn rear speaker plugs and the FPR. It was just spooky to me cracking open the gas tank. Other than that, it was easy. If you can follow directions, you'll be fine. Much time was wasted figuring out what to do with other mods I had already performed, like re-wiring the Hyper ground kit...
I have 2 questions to those that have installed these...
- I bought my kit used, it came with a pre-crushed FPR. I noticed the FPR that came out of my 2006 was slightly different than the FPR that came with my kit... Interestingly, I verfified that the fuel pressure unit has the same PN across ALL 04-08 TL model lines, so i chalked that up to "different supply chains" for the same products. I'll also take it up with Nate.
- Throttle Boddy coolant lines... Did you guys install them? Why? The throttle body is moved to "pre-charger" and the IAT is moved to post charger (at the elbow). I just used one of the coolant lines and connected the block outlet to the inlet and capped the ends on the TB. Not sure why you'd need them, as the paddles warm the air plenty.
I installed the following all day Monday:
- CompTech Blower
- Removed UR underdrive pulley and replaced with UR stock sized pulley
- ATLP J-Pipe
- Oil change
Not done yet, I just ran out of daylight. All the hardware is on, and the car starts and idles fine... That's a good sign. I still gotta wire in the ACM, then I'm ready.
No driving feedback yet... I'll post that when I get the ACM installed.
My hands are beat to pieces, and my lower back hurts from monkeying around all day... but man I'm awful proud of myself.
More pics next week, when I get the ACM installed, and actually have time to clean up the engine bay and snap some slr pics...

Thanks all...
Teaser Iphone pics will have to suffice until I can get it cleaned up, otherwise all I'd hear is "clean that engine bay Chris, what's wrong with you"...
The intake manifold, as well as all the supercharger manifolds are all hand polished. PM Royce Han, he has a few manifold he sells via ebay and what not. He did a little something special for mine though.
Yep. The ACM affects VTEC and tuning under load. I started it to prime the fuel line disconnected during fpr install, and to check the belt alignment. No way 60 seconds at idle will hurt anything, considering the supercharger stays in bypass until a set rpm is reached.
No worries here.
Hey mike... You ever finish making those CAI's for the SC guys. I have a hacked up AEM that came with my used SC, but I didn't like the way it fit. Gonna sell it. Hopefully someone will come out with a more appropriate solution.
Dan, Mike... No answers to my 2 q's?

Anyways, looks great, esp the polishing work. I'm sure you're enjoying the HP/TQ gains.

I have car ADD

there are plenty of s/c install threads, but what really makes this special is the fact that the OP installed it himself. I have taken the initiative of installing just about everything my self on my new car (i am very handy) but doing the blower? kudos to you kennedy. an easy $400-500 saved..... and you get the satisfaction of knowing that no dumb mechanic fcked something up, and then taped it back together. thats why i really enjoy doing all the work myself

Ha ha... Yeah, I thought about it... but seeing how you's roll outta bed by noon, I was 1/2 done by then. Work started at 8am sharp...

Appreciate the offer, it was kind of a snap decision Sunday night to start work Monday. I haven't forgotten though, you still owe me an afternoon standing around handing me wrenches.

Thanks Blacura... I think the new guy (Steve something) and are the only self installers around here. Actros may have installed his himself as well, he was a handy dude, just didn't post much about his exploits.
Couple more notes...
I left my Outlaw Engineering manifold thermo spacer in place... Blower bolts on fine with it. It offsets the the upper elbow just a hair, but the silicone hose accomodates that.
The first post should have said "spark plugs". The rear spark plugs are a bitch. I should have did those when I had the manifold off.
After installing, I noted I didn't need to trim the fan shroud at the top. I can only assume Acura superceded the fan with a slighly slimmer fan. You do need to trim for the battery.
Nate form CTE confirmed the FPRs are all calibrated the same, but likely are from different vendors... hence the mild differences in appearance.
FWIW, this does not cost a fortune. I bought this Charger lightly used for $2800 (with UR pulley). It needed $50 worth of missing hardware after inventory. I sold my Fujita and UR pulley for $250... Self install... free. $2600 total cost.
If you got big nuts, pick up Actros's used charger in the BM.
Not looking forward to pulling this bitch to change plugs (25K miles), and battery replacement. I plan to keep it on a trickle charger often.

Nah... Given the engine's apparent sensitivity to tuning (I know of two that blew up due to HBP use), I won't do anything else to it without a way to get a properly setup custom closed loop map made for it...
