Anyone considered exhaust with remote valve?

Anyone considered exhaust with remote valve?
my friend has an e90 (current gen) M3 with an exhaust that has valves that can be opened via wireless remote. when closed, its very mild around town. open the valves on the freeway and it sounds amazing.
does anyone have anything like this on their TL or considered it?

i believe he is talking about mufflers that have a baffle in it that you can open and close to make it louder when open and sounds more stock when closed.

I had Mild 2 Wild remote exhaust controller on my C6 Z06 which would open or close the butterfly valves by remote. That is the single most popular mod over on the vette forums. It was awesome, but on a car that sounds good with exhaust mods, not sure how I would feel about a loud V6 in a 4 door sedan. IMO its always been extremely hard to make a V6 sound good.

Haven't heard it in person but I don't think the J series would sound too good with a cutout. They sound okay louder than stock but nobody is gonna drool over it. I started mine up without the J pipe and it was the worst thing I ever heard, I know just after the J pipe would sound a little better but not by much. If I start up my Impala with the exhaust dropped I get a semi. I wouldn't do it on this car.

I was just reading about that. I'm thinking about buying the 17962 (under 90 shipped is a damn good deal) and putting it where the mid muffler use to go. I would think that the rattle would be easy to fix with some high temp foam before welding it on.

im 35. im way too old for that ricer crap.
ive had this user name since the first days of aol dialup and long before the term rice was applied to those with poor taste.
i agree V6s are tough to make sound good. nissan had done a good job with the VQ, but all i can think about is early 90s V6 camaros and mustangs with cheap exhausts on them

Ive been looking into something like that for my 2g to help get rid of the drone on the hwy yet have the sound im looking for around town. This company makes them. They are kinda pricey for just mufflers but they are the only one i have found that does it, and they have a variety of mufflers styles.

J-engine is sohc in the V6 class compared to NSX, GTR, VQ-engines, to the Supras as they are all Dohc. They will sound way much better than our engine.

Doesn't Andy have like a wireless unit that switches his car from full exhaust to dumping straight after the jpipe or something like that?

SOHC vs DOHC makes no difference in sound. The valves still open and close just the same. DOHC is great for emissions and drivability in a performance setting but for all out power and sound there's not a clear advantage over SOHC and for that matter, pushrods aren't at a disadvantage until redlines start going up.
DOHC is nice because you can manipulate valve timing and overlap with the ECU, enough that many newer cars don't have to run an EGR system.
